I went to Cottman's to have my minivan transmission checked.  The van would not exceed 20 mph and took a long time to change gears.  I arrived one morning and the attendant asked questions about what my vehicle was doing and I told them and asked that they call me before doing any work.  His response was "Ok".  Around 3pm on the same day, I received a phone call saying that they couldn't tell what was wrong unless they drop the transmission to further examine it.  I was ok with that and the conversation was ended.  The next afternoon, I received another phone call telling me that the transmission was no good and to replace it.  I asked how much would that be and was told a little over $2000.  I then to the man that I would be in later to take the car to get another estimate.

When I got there I was asked for $360 for them checking the transmission.  The guy said I was told of the price when I received the car (never was).  I called corporate(so not helpful)  because they would not give me my vehicle without payment.  My husband went up there and tallked to the supervisor at the time and talked him into payment half the $360 due to the fact I was not told about the fee.  So now I have my van and took it to another place (Aamco).  Drop my car off at 8am, received a called at 11am with prices.  I picked my minivan up at 5pm fixed.  With labor and parts I paid $163.  I was floored and could not believe with Cottman's had done to me and possibly others.  I will never go back or recommend anyone to this establishment.
