They abused my knowledge of transmissions. They quoted me much less than they actually charged and then when they were done with the work my car was in a worse condition then when I brought it in. My car was dead, they broke my attenna off, and left grease all in my car. These guys are jerks and will not let you explain your side of the case. They constantly over talk you and never let u get a word in. Someone please do something about these guys. They bait and switch you and then use extortion in order for you to get your vehicle back. The didnt even give me the advertised warranty. I took my vehicle to another shop and they said it was a completely different problem. I didnt even get 8 miles away from the repair shop before I broke down again. If you live in houston, file small claims. Dont let these crooks keep ripping people off. I have documentation to prove these allegations and if there is an attorney out there who can help please contact me. THESE GUYS ARE CROOKS.

I had the bad luck of working for these people for about 3 days I quit this job for that reason ripping people off.they use the good cop bad cop deal one of the owners says he is a houston cop and boy dose he use it. the problem is ther are no rights for the consumer to fall back on no one in city goverment wonts to get involed. but what even worse is that these guys now own most of the aamco transmission shops in houston because aamco has bought cottman transmissions.

Let's be logical here.

#4Consumer Comment

The consumer, being a party to all that transpired, was giving their first hand account/perspective/experience. A logical individual would therefore place more weight in the consumers version of events, rather than an uneducated third party's perspective obviously attempting to make possible excuses for a company with which they are affiliated and potentially is their lively.

I will also add that Cottman advertises as being transmission specialists. It might make them seem even more incompetent if they then can not properly diagnose transmission issues/non-issues or worse yet replaced a transmission unnecessarily.

From what I gathered by the commentary, the consumer has attempted to resolve the issue with little to no satisfaction.

Being affiliated with Cottman, and if truly concerned for its reputation, perhaps it may warrant a call by you to the specific offending location (to express your customer satisfaction concerns). You could then be possibly taking action to help ensure a sterling reputation for Cottman as a whole. If not, one would sincerely hope you have also invested your time off-line (in defending your shops reputation), by ensuring the numerous complaints listed here do not repeat themselves at your facility.

I concur that those responsible should be held accountable, which is believed to be the intention of this forum. Thank you.

First of all, each Cottman is independently owned and operated, and shops like mine have a sterling reputation.

It sounds as though you had "another problem" which would not have been addressed by the transmission work done.

This can often be an electrical issue, emissions problem, or other vehicle performance issue beyond the transmission and scope of the work they did on the car.

There are literally dozens of items on a vehicle that can cuase or be mistaken as transmission problems from various sensors to control modules, to exhuast problems, to engine performence to drive-train structurl problems.

I would go back to the Cottman and talk with them about what the other mechanic found and that might help you respove the issue and get a clearer understanding as to whether it was truly an issue of incompetence, deception or merely miscommunication.

If they did indded cause damage to the car they should be accountable for it.
