There was a grinding sound from my car's transmission. It shifted fine and drove great, just was making the grinding sound. I took it to my mechanic and he said the bearing in the transmission was going out and that everything else looked mechanically sound. I contacted my warranty company and they told me to take it to Cottmans transmission. I left it there for a week and then picked it up. When I got to the shop they were getting close to closing, so I grabbed the keys from the front desk clerk and drove away. 5 miles down the road from the shop I lost 5TH gear. I parked it at my house for the night. When I went out in the AM to go to work, I had no reverse gear. Caught a ride with a friend to work and called Cottmans when they opened. The lady that answered the phone said I had to call my warranty company and arrange a tow, as the shop was not responsible. I ended up paying for the tow myself. Cottmans called me about an hour later and told me a shift cable had broken, and wasnt covered under warranty. I asked him how this could be, the car drove fine before they rebuilt the transmission. He said it was just a worn out cable. I then (at my own expense again) had the car towed from Cottmans to Napa Automotive. The mechanice there shoiwed me how the cable was snapped during removal of the transmission. He also showed me the heat shield that wasnt installed properly after reinstalling the transmission. The final thing he showed me was that the transmission was now leaking and wasnt leaking before Cottmans had worked on it. I then asked Napa to do the Cottmans Damage repair work on my own dime.
