Cottmans Transmission Owned By Sital Patel LLC 3265 Dishonest managers and workers, missing parts, blames the customer for their problems Ripoff Houston Texas
1-27-05 I had my 91' GMC 4x4 towed from my work to Cottmmans transmission for repair. I had a broken bell housing not caused my rough driving or pulling heavy equipment. I have never misused or abused my truck in the 5 years I've owned it. I'am the second owner of this truck, I bought it from an elderly man in Dallas it is in mint condition (street tires only.)
They quoted me $2,064.33 for a new case, torque converter and cottmans Service Grade 1. Dan was the acting mgr. at the time 5 days later he calls to let me know that my truck is ready for P/U. I arrived that afternoon Dan explained that they could'nt find a 4-wheel housing so they installed a 2-wheel housing no big deal but now i don't have a dust cover on my truck at all i asked what is this ? Oh well you will have to buy a dust cover for it and drill it out to make it work I said that isn't right i had one on when i had you bring it here and now it does'nt. I paid for the work like we are supposed to when services are rendered. I drove home on the way I noticed that my 4-wheel drive high light was on even with it in 2-wheel drive only. I called Dan the next moring and let him know about it. He said to bring it by and they would look at it. Long story short for now(the installer put the vaccuum line for the 4-wheeldrive on wrong they said it was ready to go no problem) RIGHT!! 3 weeks later i went fishing close to my home i went to use my 4-wheel drive to ensure i would'nt get stuck in some sloppy mud. I got stuck in what should have been no problem to go through. Come to find out my front wheels were not pulling at all. A friend came to my rescue and now the fun begins.
I call Dan again to let him know that the front wheels are'nt pulling. His words exact ( we did'nt touch the front transfer case) so we are'nt responsible..... Come to find out there is a vaccuum switch located or the rear transfer case that controls the front wheels ( remember the vaccuum switch they put on wrong?) that caused my vaccuum switch to lock up and not allow the front wheels to turn. Hince I paid 18.00 for a vaccuum switch installed it my-self and now i have a true 4-wheeel drive Transmission. But wait there's more for my $2,064.33 nightmare.
I originally had a 4- wheel drive case switched by them to a 2-wheel drive case with out a dust cover. 05-27-05 I had white auto care install a flywheel because the old one was broken( you can hear it ) he informs me that my bell housing is broken (What!) I just had it replaced not even four or five months ago. sure enough it was broken again On the passengers side of the tranny the same place it was before and the nightmare continues

It's missing the two support rods that attach from the block to the transmission. GM put these on the 4WD trucks because without them, the bellhousings crack. Untill these rods get installed, you will continue to destroy transmissions. Force the issue with them. Good luck.
