So, here is the story about the Cash Store, or as it as known at the corporate level, Cottonwood Financial. I landed a job there in January 2009 and as soon as I did, I decided to check up on it a little bit, Well, I found someone who worked for the company in the same state as me get screwed over by the company. I didn't pay too much mind to it at the time because I figured well there is always another side to the story. I still felt slightly unsettled by it.

A couple weeks after I started there, I had to start covering another location because the manager there had been fired. So, the former manager comes in one day while I am working to get a few personal items and she warns me to watch my back. She said that the district manager will stab you in the back unless you kiss up to her and do everything perfectly.

Well, about three months later while I am about at my 90 days and about to get a raise, without warning, I am terminated on a Monday morning as soon as I come in to work. I was kind of in shock about the whole thing, but at the same time, I remembered the things I had read and heard about the company and some of the jerks who work for it. No write ups, no warnings, nothing. I had started doing really well and got the hang of the job and enjoyed it for the most part.

Anyone who is about to start working for this company, has for a short time, or is a customer would do very well to stay clear of this big joke called the Cash Store. By the way, I had started looking for another job because I was told that I had to lie, cheat, and steal with customers to get them to take care of their debt. Stay away from it, especially if you are in Illinois.
