When I was driving in rush hour traffic I would feel a jerking at 55 mph (as if going in and out of gear). I took my car to Cottsman Transmission and asked them to tell me what was wrong. After 3 days I was told by Joe (manager) that they would have to tear it apart to locate the problem. Two days later Joe called and said it needed to be rebuilt at a cost of $1800. Since they had the car and trans tore apart I agreed as I was told this would fix the problem. $1800 later I drove the car out of the parking lot and it would hardly run and that is when I realized the car was out of tune. I took it back and the mechanic drove it and said he could not feel or hear anything wrong. The car would not even reverse without stalling. The mechanic poured a small bottle of conditioner in the trans and said that should fix it. At that time I drove next door to the auto parts store and bought a set of plugs and a plug wrench and changed the plugs in the store parking lot(I had just put plugs in it a month earlier, but one decided to foul out). The car ran like brand new afterwards. Just goes to show if you need a rebuild let the thing fall out first as most transmission specialty shops are in it for the money and dont have a clue what they are doing. Any good reputable mechanic would have recognized this problem at a cost of $10.00.
