My mother in law is an 83 year old Holocaust survivor who is having a problem with a bunch of morons at Countrywide Mortgage. Since her primary language is Yiddish, she has asked me to handle this problem for her. Back in August 2005, she sold her home of many years in West Hollywood to move along with us to Atlanta. There was a first and a HELOC on the property with Countrywide. The house was sold through an agent and the closing took place with Ticor Title. 3 or 4 months after selling the property, Countrywide in their wisdom decided to put a flood insurance policy on the property, and billed her (now closed) HELOC the amount of the policy ($2500). After I had made numerous calls & faxes on her request (I have the documentation) the policy was partially reversed but they continue to send bills including interest charges. The last notice talked about foreclosure which would be an interesting attempt on someone else's property. Last week, I sent out 3 certified mails to the CEO, President & President with copies of the documentation & asking them to fix this as their employees can't seem to straighten this out. A few days later, I received a call from someone in the Presidents office stating that they couldn't speak with me about the loan and that I should have My mother in law write a letter to them about this, giving me authority to act on her behalf. The original communication to them already said that. I tried to explain to the girl that she is an elderly and sick woman who does not write English or even speak the language too well. She persisted that this was a necessity and that she couldn't talk to me about the loan. I told her once again that there was no loan, to which she contradicteed me telling me that there was a loan but that she couldn't talk to me about it. I told her to fax me a letter stating what needed to be said and that I would have My mother in law sign it and fax it back to them to clear this up. Nothing was ever sent. This whole 2 + year escapde is causing my mother in law terrible stress and anxiety. I don't know what to do anymore. Is this the same inept and stupid management of Countrywide that caused it to lose 1.2 billion dollars last year? These imbeciles need to wake up from from the walking comas that they are in. How much more stupid can an organization be?
