After my husband and daughter had been in a car accident and totaled our Ford F-150, we went to Courtesy Ford to replace our vehicle. We purchased a 2001 Volkswagon Passat that had been received as a trade-in.

During the process of purchasing our extended warranty, we were told by the Finance Department that all repairs on our vehicle could be done in their service department. Recently, our check engine light came on in our vehicle and we called Courtesy Ford to make an appointment. The service department told us that they would not look at the VW because it wasn't a Ford. When we explained what the Finance Department said - the representative told me that wasn't true and we would have to take our VW to a VW dealership. We were also told that the warranty we were sold would probably not cover work done by a VW service center. Basically, we were sold a warranty they new could never be redeemed.

We were warned about working with Courtesy Ford, but had always been treated well and fair by their staff. But muscling a young couple into buying an extended warranty which cannot be used on a VW is not only wrong but probably illegal. To complicate matters, the Finance Department will not return my phone calls.

Please do not buy from Courtesy Ford - My husband's father has been a plant manager for Ford Motor Company for almost 20 years. He is shocked and deeply disappointed in Ford for allowing such a branch sales office to behave this way.
