I took my van in for a state inspection and I was told my front breaks were down to less than 1/32 of an inch. I m a competent mechanic, but I decided to pay for service to save time. When the bill came in 30 dollars over the stated price I was puzzled because it is a simple job. So I asked what it was for and the owner refused to answer... I pressed him for sometihing to justify the cost and he said it was for assorted cost. I asked what those were and the answer was paper floor mats and topping off the brake fluid (really!) . Now realize I had been sitting in the shop for 2 hours and heard him give stories to one customer after another, So I requested to see my old pads. They all were all 3/16 inch or more (3 times the legal limit)! So I said that he was in the wrong and I wanted him to make it right. At first he said hed put the old ones back, but when I said ok do it, he said hed charge the full cost anyways! Then When I said Id take him to court he tried to rip the used parts out of my hands, hard enough to give me a small cut! Any how Im going to court and I want to warn every one about this slimy business
