I moved into Courtyards at Monterey apartments in Lubbock, TX on August 20, 2014. My first night there, I went to Walmart and left my 12 year old son there. He locked both locks behind me. When I got home, I couldn't get inside the apartment. My son is 12, he knows how to lock and unlock doors. Took about 2 hours to get an emergency maintenance guy there and he barely helped. He just kept blaming my son for not unlocking the door. He finally got the door open and then had to fix the door because the broke it to get it open. On our 3rd night there, I used the bathroom in the downstairs half bath because my son was using the bathroom upstairs.

Later, I went back downstairs for something and realized that the toilet had overflowed and was flooding the downstairs. I called the emergency maintenance guy and this time it took him over 3 hours to show up. While waiting for him to show up and watching almost the entire downstairs get completely flooded, I called my parents an hour away and woke them up. My dad told me to get a rag and put it under something that was in the tank of the toilet. I did that and the flooding stopped. It took the emergency maintenance guy nearly 2 hours to try to vacuum up most of the water. This was on a Friday night. On Saturday afternoon, a carpet cleaning company showed up and they left huge vacuums on the floor downstairs to continue removing water.

On Monday, the insane, unprofessional idiot in the office asked me to go to the office. I took my 12 year old son with me and she yelled at me and put full blame on us for the flood. My son had used baby wipes when he went to the bathroom upstairs so she insisted that it was our fault. She still doens't care that the reason the toilet flooded and continued flooding was a broken piece in the tank of the toilet and that toilet paper, baby wipes or anything else that is flushed down the toilet does NOT go through the tank of the toilet. To this day, she still insists it was our fault. Yes, she really is THAT IGNORANT!!!!!!

After that incident, they COMPLETELY REFUSED TO FIX ANYTHING IN MY APARTMENT. That meant that I had to go over 2 months without lighting in my kitchen because I couldn't change the light bulb because the cover was screwed onto the ceiling and there were a bunch of wires hanging down when you unscrewed it. They completely refused to fix it or anything else that broke in our apartment. As far as they are concerned, once you move in, ALL PROBLEMS ARE YOUR FAULT AND YOU HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF THEM YOURSELF. Even IF something was broken before you moved in. I finally got so frustrated that I filed a complaint with our local Better Business Bureau. All that did was make them mad, which caused them to call my dad an hour away because he co-siged the lease and whine and complain to him. So, a few days before Christmas, he drove an hour over here to our apartment and he FIXED THE THINGS THAT THEY REFUSED TO FIX  EVEN AFTER BEING REPORTED TO THE BBB.

In the middle of February, I fell down the last 2 steps and tore some ligaments in my right foot. It is still sore today. They showed up the next day and were FURIOUS with me because I didn't get downstairs fast enough to answer their knocking on our door. I usually didn't answer the door when they knocked because I didn't want to be yelled at again and again. They actually came into our apartment because our neighbors were having problems with their plumbing in their downstairs toilet, which caused their poo to end up in our toilet downstairs. Once I discovered this, I did not report it because I knew that they would blame me and blow up at me again. So, being furious with me for being extremely injured to the point that I literally had to crawl up and down the stairs that day, they called my dad and told him that they wanted us out of the apartment.

So, these unprofessional, immature, ignorant idiots kicked me and my son our of their "precious" apartment complex because we expected them to actually do their job and they refused and they didn't like it at all. So my son and I moved back to the previous apartment complex that we lived in before moving to Courtyards at Monterey. They were more than happy to have us move back in and they did NOT hesitate at all. They have also been voted the Best Apartment Complex in Lubbock, TX for 2015 and in 2014 as well.
