Recently i sought out CPI security to provide services for my home.  My father had recommended them since he's had services through them for years.  When i contacted them I was told all about their great products and services and the deals they were currently running.  Free installation and equipment.  Sounded like a great deal, so I was ready to sign up.  After running my credit, which wasn't mentioned, the customer service rep K, told me that my credit wasn't good enough and I would have to pay several hundred for the system.  I said that was impossible because I know my credit and that was completely BS.  I was then told he would speak to "his managers" and get back to me.  He called back with the response if I purchase a fire communicator for $99 he could get me the system.  I was reluctant but said ok.  Fortunately I didn't pay for it right away and was set to pay for it two days before my scheduled install date.  He then however, asked me on the phone that day to pay two months up front.  While i thought this was absurd, I had complied.  Even though AGAIN this was never mentioned.  I paid 87.41 that day.  After reviewing more information on the house, he later contacted me and said he would require more documentation to me being the homeowner.  I sent him document after document to be told his "under writing department" said it wasn't sufficient.  I have a legal binding purchase, FHA, etc through a private personal lender rather through a bank.  I AM the homeowner and EVERYTHING is in my name.  I've NEVER had an issue.  After being told this I asked what else would they need, would talking to the lender be sufficient.  He said yes, we just need to get her ok.  She called me right after to say they had told her SHE would be responsible for credit, the bill and all obligations.  WTF, it is MY HOUSE.  I then contacted him and said this was outrageous and since you can't provide me service I want my money bank.  He said he would refund my money and it would take 7-10 business days.  7-10 business days?  Excuse me?  I said this wasn't good enough and I wanted my refund immediately.  Both on the phone and email conversation which i have all of them, he told me it was expedited and I would receive it soon.  Low and behold, I HAVE NO REFUND.  THEY STOLE the 87.41 and have YET to return the money.  I have called and get the rep's voicemail...and notice one time someone else answered his extension which shows me they have caller ID and avoiding my calls.  I've also sent 4 emails asking where my refund was and why NO one has contacted me.  I also posted on their facebook regarding the matter a few days ago and was told that it was to their knowledge that someone had contacted me and resolved this matter.  I replied that NO ONE has called or EMAILED back.  No missed calls, no voicemail, no email.  Nothing!  A day later, they removed my post from their facebook wall.  I had also posted links to other complaints towards them.  I've since then reposted both a screencapture and another comment on where my refund is and their shady and immoral business practices and theft.  I have no refund, no services and proof of everything communicated.  I've contacted my bank for the refund and they'll dispute the fraud/theft in the matter.  I was told by the bank I WILL get my money back.  Thank you Wells Fargo for being a loyal and great company!  CPI Security are scam artists trying to take you for more money, shady, liars and apparently from what i've read the owners and employees are sexual harrasers, and more.  DO NOT do business with this company.  You will regret every minute of it.

Credit checks and refunds

As an employee of CPI, I have always informed every potential customer that CPI requires two things: A) proof of homeownership, because only the homeowner can authorize the installation which can require minimal drilling, even on wireless systems.

B) satisfactory credit score.

Every customer who came back with a credit score lower than our basic requirement was given the option to invest in more equipment for their home to off set the installation risk of thousands of dollars of equipment and labor cost with little or no up front money to cover our expenses. Any deposits collected toward the installation or equipment are Always refunded to the customer if the system is not installed. It takes longer than people like to wait for the refund process (1-2 weeks) but it is always refunded. With customers below a 575 beacon score, our deposit is higher as referenced by the complaints listed. But Cpi always looks at each customer individually to see what we can do to accommodate them.

I so agree, this is exactly what they said and did to me. The rep had been hounding us for two years, even became a fair weather friend, up until this moment.
He told us that our credit was not good enough so we would need to purchase more options, long story short the cost was upwards of $750.00. This is and remains to be such an untruth, about our credit.
It is truly unfortunate to be so disappointed in someone we trusted, now the check we gave them was to be dropped off in our mail box hours ago, nothing yet has been delivered. I will not sit back and allow them to rip me off, and none of you folks should either.
