CPS, Inc. CPS FBO Fortress Credit The check WAS in the mail...next day it was cashed after I paid over the phone!!! Irvine, California

Two months ago CPS Inc. bought out my old finance company, whom I never had a problem with. Last month I mailed a check for my car payment on the 16th. By the 26th they were persistant and telephoned me day and night stating, "We never recieved your check! You must call us immediately!" I returned their call on the 28th. CPS still had not recieved my check and the funds remained in my bank account. I made a telephone payment over the phone and put a "stop payment" on my check.

The very next day I checked my bank account and two payments to CPS were removed! I have never heard of a company having direct access to a consumers bank account where they were able to remove the money in less than 24 hours!! The bank was unable to "stop payment" on the account because the check was processed in less than 24 hours.

This leads me to believe, CPS had the check all along and knew it. Granted I am a month behind on my account, but previous payment arrangements have been agreed upon and made. Today it is the 1st of the next month and I still have not received any resolution to their error. My bank account is in the process of being overdrawn, including rent, electric, credit card, and another car payment all because of their greed and lack of professionalism.

This is good business for companies but life altering for the little man!!!
