Complaint Review: CPS Security

CPS Security 33698 San Antonio, Texas Sent me a pre-prosecution letter asking for payment for checks I have never written and from a State I had never been to. San Antonio Texas

I received a letter via Postal Service with a name similar to mine to my address. It was a Pre Prosecution Warning Letter, telling me I had two checks totaling over $200.00 that had been written in a store in Texas. Check numbers and amounts were stated. I have never been into the stated store nor in the State.

This to me, appears to be a scam. They do a nation wide search and send out letters to anyone with a name similar to the one they have a collection notice out on. They try to intimidate and scare people into paying an amount that they don't owe, never did owe.

My lawyer has asked for documentation. I doubt we will hear from these scam artists again.

If you write a NSF check in Dallas County you will receive a certified letter from the company first - then a call from Dallas County Sheriffs -
Sounds like a scam to me but there are businesses in the DFW area that will send nsf checks to collection agencies but will only do so after trying to contact you
Had this happen to me
Let your attorney handle it - I do not think that the State of Texas wants to extradiate anyone for a nsf check - I think Texas has more worries than that
