I"m responding to this late as I just became aware of it being filed. The failure of the motor in question was most likely due to the nature of the vehicle it was installed in more than the quality of the repaires I did to it.

The vehicle that it was installed in is Winibago Rialta Motor Home. A seven thousand plus pound vehicle that is taller, wider, longer and way too heavy. The origional Volkswagen Eurovan it was designed for is about half the weight, shorter and smaller. The drag along with the weight will make this combination very hard for a small underpowered motor to power this large box shaped vehicle down the road. The previous owner had problems with it for the same reason and the repairs I did brought it back to origional condition and even then as before it was underpowered. This is a problem that began with joining the front of a VW to a over weight motor home, and the falt should be with the manufactuers and design engineers.

As for my repairs, the reason I wouldn't warranty it is because it was out of warranty. The date on the repair order is December of 2005. The 12 month 12,000 mile had elapsed and should have been researched before the sale. This motor had all new valves and machine work was done by a very experanced machine shop. The owner sent pictuers of the damage and after showing it to the machinest he told me that it looked like it was from excessive heat. But could only be sure if the motor was where he couldd see the rest of the damage. But he like myself only warranties his work for 12 monts also.

I hope this help explain my side of this and helps you understand the reasoning of not complying to the needs of someone who didn't do his homework before he bought this vehicle.
