Complaint Review: craigslist/ebay

 I recently found a car on craigslist and began the purchase of the vehicle. The folllowing is the emails that we corresponded to. 

first e-mail:

i am interested in the 2005 Audi A6 3.2 quatto.  I was wondering about some more details and where the car is located. thank you

second e-mail:

Thanks for replying to my ad. I'm in a hurry to find a buyer because I have a family emergency and I need to sell it before September 16th. My name is Carol. I'm an Air Force Technical Sergeant stationed at the Elmendorf AF Base, Anchorage, Alaska. The vehicle is here with me.

I'm the original owner. It has no damage, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects. It is in immaculate condition, meticulously maintained and hasn't been involved in any accident...I do have the title, clear, under my name. Non-smoker. It is rust free, salt free and has a clean undercarriage (see pics).

It is still available for sale if interested, price as stated in the ad $2,950. If you want to buy this vehicle I will take care of shipping. Shipping will be door to door, to your home address and I will offer 5 days to inspect the vehicle from the moment you receive it (and the option to accept or reject the vehicle on my expense), before I'll have your money. Hi again,

As I've told you, at this moment I am in Alaska in a military base. I do a special training program each day and I am not allowed to get out of the unit or call whenever I want. The reason I'm selling this vehicle way below market value, is because I would like to help ease the burden of my sisters medical expenses, which she has acquired due to a serious illness.

The shipping will take 3 to 5 days and its not a problem because I will have the vehicle shipped by an Air Force cargo plane so there won't be any additional shipping costs. Also I will arrange for a truck to transport the vehicle to your home address. You will receive it along with all the documents including title, bill of sale, 2 set of keys, full service records and more. Because it is a large transaction, we will complete the deal only using an authorized third part like eBay because I already prearranged the whole process with them. The vehicle is located in their warehouse in Anchorage (sealed and ready for delivery). The money must be sent first to an eBay agent and will be kept safe until the buyer receives and inspects the vehicle. I will offer a 5-day period to inspect the vehicle from the moment you receive it (and the option to accept or reject the vehicle on my expense), before I'll have your money. I think this is more than fair for both of us.

You have to go to a Western Union store and send the money to the ebay attorney.The service you have to use from Western Union is a person to person transfer. Fill in the Western Union form with your name and address as the sender, the agent's name and address as the receiver and the amount you want to send. That is all.

So you have all the details on how to send the money to the ebay attorney.

I have one request for you when you will send the payment.Please tell the western union agent, if he ask you, that you are sending the money to a friend of yours cause otherwise when i will receive my payment i will have to pay a commercial tax of 15% from the entire amount to the state of making commerce.I really appreciate if you can do this for me.It will

Once the transfer will be completed, please confirm the payment by faxing the western union receipt to ebay to their fax# found on the invoice.As soon as I receive the payment confirmation from ebay i will start the shipping. Thanks!

Her last e-mail:

 I just received the confirmation from ebay that they've got the payment info and tomorrow morning I will proceed with the shipping. I will get back to you with shipping details once the car has been sent.

This was the last e-mail, when I tried to e-mail her back, the e-mail was not accepted only by certain people!  I was rippped off over $3000.00  and am very upset about this.  Everything looked like it came from ebay.
