Complaint Review: CRC Of Raritan Valley

I ordered some magazines when I was called by CRC. They offered free gifts which I never recieved. Of the different subscriptions only two or three did I actually order. I tried to change the magazines that I had not ordered to ones that I had with no success.

Originally I was paying $15.96 for the subscriptions they called to ask if they could double the payment(so I would pay for a shorter period) and I said they could; however, my circumstances changed a little later on and I could no longer afford to pay. I asked them to cancel and for the first time I was told that the subscription was "not subject to cancellation". At that time they were very rude and called several times to harrass me horribly.

I was advised that I could write them and request cancellation so I did and this just made things so much worse. They called a great deal and were extremely verbally abusive. I can not believe they can legally speak to anyone that way. They swore my verbal agreement was valid and did not respond when I mentioned I was never told I could not cancel. I did not verbally agree to the terms they stated later.

I am paying them through a collection agency who was also very verbally abusive and dishonest. This collection agency informed me that since I had made eight payments that I could not cancel after that point. The collection agency sent me no information so that I might consult a legal service or anything else.
I really hope that no one in worse circumstances than I am gets involved with CRC. Their tactics are cruel and immoral.
