I was called one afternoon back in the summer right after graduating from high school about subscribing to a few magazines at a very discounted price. I made the man aware that I would be moving to another city in the same state in a couple of months. I told him that I knew the address of my apartment, and that I wanted to just give him that address so I wouldn't have to go through an address change.

He wanted me to give him my current address so I could get started reading as soon as possible. He said that it is very easy to change my address, all I have to do is call the phone number that appears on my credit card statement, and tell them I need an address change. So as soon as I arrived at my new apartment, I called CRC to change my address. After another month an a half of no magazines I called back to confirm it had changed. The lady I got on the phone seemed very nice and said that the address had not changed.

So I gave her my new address, she read it back to me, and said that it is all up to date now. Another month and a half goes by...my parents in my home town had stopped receiving magazines. I called back again, a little annoyed this time. My address still had not changed! Once again I gave my new address and complained that there were no magazines being sent out. This goes on and on and on.

Finally I called in and asked to speak with a supervisor. I told him that I didn't want to pay any more of these monthly payments until I started receiving my magazines. He treated me very rudely. After speaking to him and still not seeing any results, I decided to call and ask to cancel. I called and asked for a supervisor once again. He told me that there is no way to cancel the service.

I threatened that I would take them to court. He said not to tempt him with threats. He said that he will not respond to threats. So I cancelled my credit card. 2 months later, I receive a call from a woman named Charlie. She said that she didn't know how I had stopped the monthly payments. I told her that I simply cancelled my card. She said she would help my cancel my service the right way. She said if I had continued to let that money add up that a 3rd party collection agency would come after me.

]In order to cancel I needed to pay 30 some odd dollars to clear my dues, call a number that she would give me and give them the confirmation number that she gave me, and then i would never hear from them again. I gave her my debt card and paid the 30 some dollars. I received the confirmation number, and the new telephone number I needed to call.

I thanked her for her time and ended the call. I called the number she gave me and gave them the confirmation number. I was then told that I would also need to send in a letter of cancellation. ok. fine. I'll do it, I just want it over with. 2 weeks later, I get a call from Charlie again. She said they received my letter of cancellation. She said now the final step is to pay 62 dollars for magazines that are going to be sent in the future until the account is cancelled completely. I told her that i'm not receiving any magazines at all, and haven't for quite some time.

Why would I pay 60 dollars for something i'm not receiving anyway. I spoke to her supervisor, the rudest person yet. He accused me of being a liar. He said that they will not stop until they get their money. This is where I am at now. I don't know what to do.

A HAPPY CRC CUSTOMER

I am a happy customer of CRC of the Central Coast, I receive my favorite magazines month to month with no problems.
I have called in to CRC to let them know I recv'd a damaged magazine or that a magazine from my list was missing. They were quick to help and sorted things out with the actual publishers for me. Only one time did it take over 30 days for my service to be corrected, when I called in I do believe I was helped by Charlie, the very same one I read of in Ed, from South Dakota spoke of.
When I told Charlie of my missed issues she not only sent a complaint to the publishers but also extended by # of issues by 4. Thus giving me 2 free issues for my trouble.
If you are wanting a temporary magazine service I recommend going through other means, but if you are interested in having a service that will interact with the many different publishers for you, CRC is the choice.
It is nice not being committed to ONE magazine for a year; with this service you can switch and choose your mags month to month at no extra charge. I really like their program.
Reading Eds report left me with the opinion that he maybe didn't have enough patience to let this company work for him.
Charlie (who helped me remember her name by saying 'like charlie brown') was a real sweetheart and said that anytime I need anything I can call directly in to her.
The only time I have had the need to speak with any of the supervisors there it was only to compliment their resourceful customer service.
A very happy customer
