In mid-april, I applied online for a credit card from Credicorp. I assumed that I was applying for a Visa or MasterCard (which is exactly what they lead me to believe), paid the $37 application fee by personal check (duh AND I've learned my lesson, so don't flood my email with admonishments!) and then I waited, waited and waited some more.

By late June I still hadn't received a credit card or a rejection notice and I became very concerned. I tried to access my online application to ascertain the status of my application but was denied access...an automated response assured me that I'd hear from them within 2 to 3 weeks of my application date (time-challenged idiots or liars, take your pick!). Even more worried and upset than before, I did a Web search on Credicorp and just about fell on the floor when I discovered on Rip-Off that they're being sued by everyone and their dogs!

You know, it's not that $37 is a fortune, although it's a serious amount of money to me, it's that these companies prey on the poorest of the poor and/or the elderly. As I type this, I'm beyond angry...I'm disgusted and completely dissillusioned! To the executives of Credicorp: if your parents raised you in the typical 70's "I'll get mine and the heck with anyone who gets hurt" philosophy, they did a fine job!
