Out of the blue, a notice of a defunct charge account balance.  The account has been closed and paid off over ten years ago.  Now they want to give me a chance to line their pockets with stupic money.  They blame Sears, but Sears has no record of the charges.  What kind of funky collection scheme is going on here.

Trying to get social security numbers!

This company keeps calling my house.  They tell me the address and say they are calling on behalf of a "client" but won't identify the "client" or give any information without verifying social secruity numbers.  They "claim" they have my husband's entire social security numbers, but refuse to give any information without the last four of the social and birthdate.

I told them I would verify other information but not the social security numbers and they tell me they will report a "refusal" on my part to cooperate.  They will get NO information from us without telling us who the client is and what is the problem and we will not give out any social security information, so they should stop calling my house!!!!!

Company is a fraud and has numerous complaints against it.  It is phishing for information!

Credit Control, LLC  takes consumer disputes and complaints seriously.  While this Report by Larry does not provide us with enough identifying information to determine whether or not Larry is an individual that in fact received communications from us.  If Larry disputes the validity of an account about which he received correspondence, we invite Larry to contact us in a manner with which he is comfortable (by phone, letter, or even via a dispute submission through our website: credit-control.com/contactform.html) so he may provide us with enough additional information so that we may find the account alleged to belong to him and appropriate register his dispute.  If Larry received a letter from us, the reference number contained on that letter should be enough for us to locate the account in question if the letter indeed came from us.

Credit Control, LLC is a registered company operating within the financial services industry.  Credit Control, LLC holds the appropriate licenses for its business activities with the state authorities that require them.  We do not seek to scam or "rip off" anyone.  That said, Credit Control, LLC is a company that operates through the actions of our employees and is susceptible to human error and mistakes.  We recognize that we're not perfect -- we're like everyone else.  But when we find that one of our employees or one of our systems makes a mistake, we try to act responsibly in correcting that mistake.  We also aim to continually improve our operations to prevent mistakes and errors in the first place.  Based on the information within this Report, we have no reason to believe that Larry's situation resulted from an error.  However, if we received bad information or if Larry received a communication from us for some other reason, if he gives us enough information to investigate the situation, we will look into it (we'd suggest he'd be best served communicating the details of his situation to us in a confidential manner and not through a public site like this so that his personal information is kept private--but that's up to him).  And if we find an error, we'll do our best to fix it.

Regarding the portion of Larry's Report indicating that "[we] blame Sears," we don't know what Larry is referring to or why he thinks we blame Sears.  Also, regarding Larry's statement that "Sears has no record of the charges"--without speaking about the specifics of Larry's situation (in part because we can't identify who Larry is or whether he actually has an account with us base on the information here)--when accounts get charged off by credit issuers, those accounts may no longer be accessible to certain employees of the issuer.  In the case of a retailer, for example, it could be that if a consumer like Larry tried going to his or her local store location and asking about their account, those employees might not be able to pull up information about a charged-off account.  Of course, this is speculation.  Because we can't identify Larry, we don't know the facts of his situation.  It's possible that something else is going on.

Lastly, just to be clear, this communication is made in response to Larry's Report and for no other purpose than responding to Larry's Report and attempting to offer him an avenue for communicating with us about a potential dispute.

Thanks.
