I signed up for a free 30 day trial of credit monitoring to get my free credit report. The offer was that if you cancel within your 30 days your debit card will NOT be charged. I cancelled my membership within my 30 days, or so I thought. I had both emailed and called to cancel and was told it was taken care of.

Lo and behold, about two months later my checking account received an $89.95 charge from this company, which resulted in overdrawing my account. This cost my an additional $35 by my financial institution. Immediately I contacted this CreditExpert place, only to be left on hold for a total of 2 hours. I had to hang up and keep calling back because I could never reach a live person.

When I finally did reach someone she informed me that I had never been cancelled and thus the reason for the charge. After much dispute, they agreed to refund the charge, in 7-10 business days, leaving my account overdrawn for at least another week. I also requested that I get my NSF fees refunded to me by them, since it was their error. For that, they said I had to fax a letter and proof of the charge to their consumer relations department, who would in turn contact me. I did just that. They were very unprofessional and flat out rude to me.

When I finally received a credit to my account, it was not for the $89.95 I had been charged, but for an amount of $73.60. I'm not sure where that number came from, but I called them back. They again were rude to me, and I asked to speak to a supervisor. He was also rude and unprofessional, but assured me that he would immediately refund the remaining $16 to my account. Since I hadn't yet heard from the consumer relations dept. about my NSF fee, I asked him about that and he said they were still investigating. So 6 months later, I still haven't received a $16 credit, or ever heard from their so called consumer relations people.
