I had a Credit One account which I closed months ago. I just found out by checking with my credit report that they have NOT closed my account and have NOT reported my credit properly. They harrassed me, as my payment was due on the 29th of each month and I sent it on the first, they charged me a late fee, additional interest and penalty every month. I called closed the account to STOP late payments and set up for them to accet my payment on the 1st. They never processed my request. They harrassed me over the phone demanding full payment and to date have never reduced my balance. THEY SUCK!

BUYER BEWARE! As a Christian I shouldnt be using such language but what can you do when treated like this.

If you are a Christian, you should know why you are wrong

Your religious belief has NOTHING to do with this, and if you are being truthful in your "report", you should be ashamed of yourself for bringing religion into this.  As comments like yours is what sets people's attitudes as if they think this is how "all" of one certain religion or another acts.

With that said...you have had credit issues in the past and have some "entitlement mentality" where you think a credit card must do what you want.   Sorry...that is wrong, when you got the card you agreed to certain terms.  If you didn't like the terms, you shouldn't have gotten the card.

As for closing your account, until your balance is zero a credit card will not be closed.  Now, it can be closed to new purchases, but you are still subject to all fees, interest, and terms that were in effect until you pay off the balance.

A creditor is under no obligation to change your due date, or any other terms of your account.  So if you pay after the due date(or even after the cut-off time on the due date), you are subject to a late fee.

If you want to reduce your balance, it is simple.  Make sure you make your payment before the due date, make sure you are paying at least the minimum balance, and if you want to pay it down faster pay a significant amount over the minimum payment.

Oh and if you are truly a Christian, might I suggest you look at some Biblically based Financial Planning such as Crown Ministries.  I can almost guarantee that your Pastor staff has heard of this and may even host some of the classes.

Christians Should Pay Their Bills

If the payment was due the 29th and you sent it in on the first then you were clearly late!  The reason any lender calls is because the borrower is late.  They don't call because they have nothing better to do.  When you are late, you generate extra interest plus late fees and if the late payments are minimum payments, thats why the balance in addition to the high APR is not going down.  No ripoff here.  You are continuing in your subprime ways and not paying your bills on time.  Don't waste the effort, I'll tell you now, I don't work for them.
