Had  a credit card thru credit one last year..

brother passed away , flew to alaska for 6 months to help out then finally home.

made arrangement with credit one and tried all I could to make all payments on time.. which were a year before, and even beat the due date

then this with my family..

so they could not give me more time to make payments which I owe less than 500.00 and so now

I get the letter from machol & johannes llc denver about payments

and how they have bought my payments..

so now still with no cash, filing bankruptcy I am forced to deal with my attorney to deal

with their att? for less than 500.00 which could have been taken care of.. with payments I could have made, and them not squashing my card..

remember

I never missed a payment// before/ for over a year

always on time if not early.. then this

so bankruptcy here we go

You don't understand credit

With your report and the fact you are with Credit One shows you do not understand how credit actually works.  You see Credit One is a Sub-Prime card for people who generally can not get approved for a card with more regular cards.  This is because you have not proven you can actually handle credit, either by not having any credit or having a history of delinquency.  If it is the later...the reason you have bad credit doesn't matter.

When you got the card you agreed to make the minimum monthly payments and the ONLY reason you have any payments is because YOU used the card.  Paying the card on-time for a year, 2 years, or 20 years doesn't earn you any "gold stars" because it is what YOU agreed to do.  Now, you say you were trying to make arrangements to pay.  Well again they don't have to accept any terms other than what you agreed to in the beginning...pay the minimum due.  I really hope you weren't doing something like "Well I told them I could pay $10/month if they got rid of all of the late fees".  As offers like them just make creditors laugh, right before they turn you over to collection agencies because what you are offering to pay isn't worth the hassle they have to go through.

One final item.  If your first reaction to paying off a $500 debt is you need to declare bankruptcy you are either totally naieve or in much worse financial shape than you are trying to claim and don't have the ability to pay off this debt no matter what terms you had. Because in order to file for a Bankruptcy it is going to cost you at least $500, and depending on your income they may STILL require you to pay the debt.
