I purchased a credit insurance policy when I received a credit card acct through MBNA bank. Six months after I got the account I became disabled by kidney cancer and End Stage Renal Disease. I was unable to work. I was critically ill for the first 6 months after being diagnosed. My credit card acct went into default even though I asked MBNA to activate my credit protection policy.

The bank told me they didn't insure the acct that a compant CreditProtection did. All along I thought the bank was the policy issuer. I called CreditProtection to get the insurance policy enacted to pay my monthly bill to MBNA. CreditProtection told me that I had to file a claim within 90 days of being disabled. During the first 90 days of my disability I was near death and undergoing numerous rounds of medical treatment including a kidney removal. MBNA closed & cancelled my acct.

Of course I wasn't using the credit card anymore and thought no charges would be accepted. Since then I have been charged $150.00/mth by CreditProtection. Total so far of more than $1,500.00. I have tried to cancel the policy because CreditProtection refused to pay my claim. The bank, MBNA, continues to allow the charge every month in spite of the acct. being closed and cancelled. DON"T DO BUSINESS WITH EITHER MBNA OR CREDITPROTECTION!
