TransCredit has shut down and apparently reappeared as Credit1 Financial. They were asking me to do exactly what everyone had done with TransCredit - send, via Moneygram 5 months advance payment, etc. Fortunately, I didn't do it.

When I called them this morning to get a status, I chose their phone menu item - customer service. The first recording I then got was "You have reached TransCredit customer service". I got a rep and asked why the incorrect company name and was told he'd check it out and for me to call back. Within 20 minutes the recording had been changed to Credit1.

If anyone needs any further info, I can be reached at (email deleted - see below). I already lost $450 to this type of scam out of Toronto and wasn't going to fall victim again.

A friend of mine, who is 18yrs old, was trying to get a loan to help start his life on his own. with no credit he started apllying to creditors online. only one called him back, credit1 financial. They asked for him to send in approx. 800.00 dollars and the loan would be secured at 7% intrest rate. When he told me of this something didnt seem right, so like any good friend would do I had him call them and ask a few more questions. When he asked them the simple question "is this a simple intrest loan?" the lady on the phone seemed confused and finally said "no it's a fixed intrest rate". now it seemed to me that a financial institution would know what a simple intrest loan was so an alarm sounded off in my head. I dug around the internet some more and came across this site after about an hour and read the comments. After that i called wisconsin's bureu of consumer affairs and talked to a gentlman there. all I said was "sir, im calling to verify that there is a financial institute in your state named 'credit one financial'." he immediatley replied "no, its a scam." that was his exact words. and he went on to tell me how its a federal law or something another for any bank or lender to ask for up front money to secure a loan. I just thought i would give people my story so they dont get cheated.

Thanks for the information. Did they happen to give you and further information as far as an address, fax number, any phone extensions at the company or a place and name to send the money? I want to bring these jerks down.

I think that they are very cruel and prey on people like us and I for one am out for some serious revenge.
