I was contacted by a representative of CreditLife in the middle of May, while I was at work. I was asked if I was interested in receiving information on some sort of Credit offer. I said yes and then the man asked if he could give CreditLife my checking account information. At this I immediately saw red flags. However the man assured me that NO MONEY would be withdrawn from my account until I received the information promised. He stated there was a trial period.

About two weeks later I was checking my account and noticed a check in the amount of $149.00 was cashed to this company. When I called to ask why the money had been withdrawn they told me it was for membership fees. I then made it very clear that this was unacceptable due to the fact that I never received the information promised, they told me that all I could do is write and letter stating what happened to the refund department and ask for a check in the amount of $149.00. This was May 29th and that same day I mailed the letter.

Yesterday (6/11) I called to check on the status of my refund, which I was told only takes 48hours once the letter is received. The person assured me that the check would be going in the mail today (6/12). Fine. So I called again today to make sure the check had been sent. I received the same response as on the 11th; the check will go in the mail tomorrow (that now being 6/13).

So I calmly asked to speak with a supervisor, which took several times of me asking before being put on hold for 7 minutes. When the supervisor, Fay Scott, picked up on the line, she was not helpful in the least. She stated that the letter I sent was received on June 4th. When I asked why the check was not sent out 24-48 hours after it was received she responded that the bank to bank transfer was not cleared at that time.

Now I have never heard that a bank to bank tranfer can take a week but she said the refund check had gone in for processing on the 11th. I made it very clear that if the check was not sent out by Wednesday I would be pursuing my legal options to obtain the money and press charges. We shall see.

P.S. I am not paying bank fees on checks that were bounced due to this transaction which I have not even bothered to ask them for.
