Complaint Review: CreditorWeekly.com

CreditorWeekly.com Zachary Rouse dba CreditorWeekly.com fradulent invoices, bogus invoices for advertising Internet

  • Reported By:
    Collection Agency — Nationwide USA

Our collection agency received an invoice from CreditorWeekly.com in the amount of $1,128.47 for services that we never solicited nor received.  The invoice is fraudulent and states that "the total is due in 15 days.  Overdue accounts subject to a service charge of 5% per month."  Obviously, there is a website called CreditorWeekly.com, however, it appears that it only re-hashes already published articles.  The ACA (The Association of Credit and Collection Professionals) has also posted warnings about this company's practices of sending fraudulent invoices.

Apparently the company has obtained a list of collection agencies and proceeds to send out mass mailings of invoices to all the agencies it can find.  The company is banking on the fact that the agency will assume this invoice is legitimate and owed and simply pays the invoice.  This invoice is NOT a solicitation for advertising services, but appears to the receipient that it is an invoice for services already provided and that severe interest of 5% per month (60% per annum) will be assessed if this is not paid in 15 days.  Needless to say, a rate of 60% per annum is in violation of the usury laws in the State of California since the legal rate in California is only 10% per annum.  The legal rate in Oregon is only 9% per annum.

The website has no contact address, phone number or owner information available.  The "invoice" that was received only has a PO BOX in California.  There is no way to contact this company to even inquire about the invoice, except for an online submission form on their website.

The BBB online also shows complaints against this company and their rating is a big "F".  Our agency was not ignorant enough to actually send him any money, but we felt it is important to provide this information in the hopes that other agencies will see this before sending payment to the company.  If you do receive such an invoice, we have found more helpful contact information for this so called company.

Contact information for this company below:

The owner of the company is Zachary Rouse.  It is incorporated in Oregon, but not in California.  CA address on invoice: PO BOX 1033, Blue Lake CA  95525.  OR address: 1309 NE Emerson Street, Portland OR  97211.  The corporation (registry #653954-94) was just registered on 1/4/10.  Contact phone number for Mr. Rouse is 707-616-6764.

"invoice" actually an Offer of Service

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Thu, September 09, 2010

We at CreditorWeekly.com want to provide the credit and collections industry with salient, comprehensive news. We proudly do this, and advertising is a key component to the success of our business, as well as the industry at large-which has suffered greatly from poor image and public relations.

CreditorWeekly.com helps companies improve their image by providing news, and articles about the positive aspects of the industry, as well as a powerful advertising platform for creating a positive view of companies which would otherwise be at a disadvantage publicly.

A.What this person refers to as an "invoice", is actually an offer of service. If they read the solicitation, they would have noticed the VERY visible statement at the bottom of the offer which states, "This is an offer of service. All new accounts are activated upon receipt of payment."

B1.If a company does not want to advertise with CreditorWeekly, they simply need to throw the solicitation in the nearest recycling bin. We use all recycled paper in our mailings, and would love to see others do the same. It's a little more expensive, but worth it to the environment.

B2.If they do wish to advertise with us, they simply pay us for advertising, and we set their account up as soon as we receive said payment!

This is neither a complicated nor tricky process. You either want the service or you don't. If you pay for it, you receive it. If you don't, you don't.
