Creditreport.com Carry on billing after account cancelled Agoura Hills, California
I took out a membership with this comapny in the middle of last year. After using for a while, and getting billed $14.95 for the priviledge, I decided to cancel my membership.
So I contacted the number that appeared every month on my bank statement & a very nice lady assured me that the account was cancelled from that date. She even gave me a confirmation number. So off I went a happy consumer.
So you can imagine my surprise when I checked my bank statement this monring and found an entry titled: "Creditreport.com", for the amount of $14.95! I immediately called Creditreport.com.
I spoke first to a supervisor, and then their manager (a woman called Rose), who both insisted that the account was cancelled & that one of two things was happening.
1) It was actually "Freecreditreport.com" who were billing my account, not them.
or
2) My spouse, or a child in my household had joined them.
But no matter what it was not them who were billing my bank account.
1) I then spoke to my bank, who confirmed that it was "Creditreport.com", not "Freecreditreport.com" who were billing me.
2) My spouse does not buy/get things that involve their credit/debit card online, as they do not trust the internet. It is always my card that they use. "Creditreport.com also did not have a record of them in their system.
The result is that I now have to go to the bank and file a 'dispute report'. From what the person at the bank said, I gathered the impression that this was not the first time this had happened to one of their customers.
Overall I would say that these online credit report companies are a waste of time. It is far better & cheaper to go to the three credit bureaus directly and get your credit history from them!
So my reccommendation after all this is:
1) Contact the credit bureaus directly for your report.
2) DO NOT JOIN ANY ONLINE CREDIT REPORT AGENCY!!!!!!!
