Complaint Review: Cricket Communications

My Daughter purchased a cell phone through Cricket Communications set up in a Kenyon's Variety store in Lockport, NY.

The reason she decided to go with Cricket was because they were offering a $100 rebate on the particular phone she purchased. The clerk gave her 2 receipts and explained that one was for mailing in for the rebate. The clerk told my daughter that she was out of rebate forms and that my daughter can come back later to pick one up.

My daughter returned several times for the form, but no luck. The promotional signs for that rebate were still posted in the store however.

Come to find out that the rebate wasn't for that particular day she purchased the phone. Not my daughter fault, but nonetheless, Cricket won't honor the misinformation.

Another problem we are experiencing, is that the phone was in my neighbor's name as my daughter was under 18. We have tried on 3 separate occassions to change the account into either my name or my daughters to no avail. Cricket would require us to pay ANOTHER $20 reconnect fee and then at that time we would've lost our rebate (that we thought we would get at that time)
Also, one payment was mailed to Cricket in SanDiego by money order.

Several months have passed and the money order receipt got thrown away. Still, no word yet on what happened to that payment. One Cricket representative told us that San Diego was the wrong address to send payment to and that they wouldn't know what to do with it. That it would just float around the offices there. How obsurd is that! Considering a representative gave us that San Diego address over the phone to mail it to.
