I bought two cricket phones. One for my fiancee, and one for myself. The cost for the phones, together, were about $500.00. That was a waste. We can no longer use the phones.

I began recieving disturbing calls from my ex, on both phones, so we got a number change. We were told we would have a $15.00 charge for each phone to have a number change.

When we went to pay our phone bill, we were told we owed $57, and some change. We asked if they were sure. They said yes, so we figured the $15.00 charge would be on our next bill.

Three days later our phones were shut off. We called, at that time, to ask what was going on. We were then told it was supposed to be paid with the bill we had just paid.

We only make one trip to Wichita a month, so we thought we would go pay the $15.00 charge the next month.

The next month, we went to Wichita to pay the charge. We then found out we would have to pay for a complete other month. We weren't happy.

We called the 800 number for cricket. We asked why we were getting charged another month, when we paid for a month, that wasn't used. They had no good reason, and transferred us to someone who didn't speak very good english. We desided to forget about it at that time, and would go back the next month to get the phones connected, knowing it wasn't right, what they had done.

The next month, we go to get the phones back on. Oh no. We couldn't. We then owed for two months, which was over $100.00 per phone. I called for my fiancee and I. They still had no good reason for this. They hung up on me, because they weren't happy with the fact that I was mad. I felt I couldn't do anything about it.

I let my phone stay off, but called several times complaining. My phone bill was eventually over $200.00. They then said I would have to be charged every month, to keep my insurance.

Well, the reason they thought I needed my insurance, was because I made an insurance claim. My phone fell in the toilet. I never recieved my phone, so why would I want the insurance!?!

After complaining for six months, they took off my insurance, but are still trying to charge me another month, plus $15.00 number change, plus $25.00 activation fee. I never used the month I paid for.

I feel I shouln't have to pay for another month, because I Didn't use the month I paid for six months ago. My fiancee feels the same.

Also, we paid cricket for a tetris game on the phones. I can no longer play my game, because my phone has to be activated to play it.

We were ripped by cricket in three ways. They were paid a month of unused service, they were paid for a game I can't play, and they were paid almost $500.00 for phones we only used for four months. The phones are audiovox picture phones.

Also to add... Cricket Wireless is a POST-PAY service

Oh, there's one thing I forgot to mention. Cricket Wireless is a POST-PAY service, meaning you pay for service AFTER you use it. It is NOT a prepaid wireless service like it used to be 3 years ago. Whenever you due date comes, you are paying for the service UP TO the date, NOT for the next month ahead of the due date.

Hope that helps to clear up the confusion....

First of all, I can understand your frustration and confusion with the billing. Let's get some things straight though, okay?

First, you said that you activated 2 phones. What level of service did you activate on those phones? It seems like you activated the $45/mo plans on BOTH phones because you said your bill was around $57 ($45 for the plan, $3.95 for phone insurance, plus taxes).

Secondly, realize that you activated 2 phones. Your first bill would have been $25 activation fee (per phone), plus $57 monthly service (also per phone, with a $5 discount on the 2nd phone, price inlcudes approximate tax). That would have been a total of at least $160.00 for the first bill. Each bill afterwards would have been close to $110.00 or so.

Thirdly, with the 2 number change fees, that's an extra $30 billed to the following month's bill ON TOP of your monthly service amount. So that would have been around $140 for that one month.

Lastly, you said that your phones were shut off. They were most likely shut off due to underpayment. The phone number change fees are ALWAYS billed to the next bill, so they shouldn't have appeared on your first bill (you didn't actually mention *when* you began receiving the harrassing calls. Was it before you paid your first bill?).

Was there anything mentioned at the time you activated the phones about a promotion where your phone purchase includes the first month's bill? There was a recent promotion about that offer, but it was limited to certain models of phones. That may have been why your first bill MIGHT have been cheaper, but it's not likely because the offer was not on the Audiovox camera phones.

The only way to resolve this is to get a printout of your bill either online or from a Retail Cricket Store. Cricket also sends text messages of your bills to your phone as well. Let me know what you find out.
