Yes, the Cricket Rep was wrong in referring you to Asurion...

Yes, the Cricket Rep was wrong in referring you to Asurion to file an insurance claim. THAT was fraudulent. However, if you read the Terms and Conditions that I stated above, Cricket is really NOT responsible for manufacturer defects. However, because the Corporate office got involved, they replaced your phone.
I'm sure that the Cricket Rep that sent you the text message was dealt with as he/she is NOT supposed to tell you do file a fraudulent claim.
Regardless, if you have a problem with a phone, it's better to contact the MANUFACTURER than your wireless service provider as there are many times LIMITED things that the service provider can do, based on the terms and conditions that I have stated above.

Actually, the Cricket Reps were correct. Don't believe me, just check Cricket's Terms and Conditions. It states the following (search for "manufacturer", or go to #18):
18. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY.
(a) Cricket does not manufacture wireless phones, related equipment or Applications or provide warranties with respect to those items. Your rights with respect to your wireless phone and other equipment or Applications you purchase, including your warranty rights and your rights to return defective products, are governed by any warranty that may be offered by the manufacturer or Application provider. CRICKET MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, ABOUT THE SERVICE(S), APPLICATIONS, YOUR WIRELESS PHONE OR ANY RELATED EQUIPMENT, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Our disclaimer does not deprive you of any rights you may have against the manufacturer.
(b) Cricket will not be liable to you in connection with (1) the manufacturer's warranty, (2) any actions or omissions of the manufacturer, or (3) any malfunction or failure of the wireless phone or related equipment.
(c) Returns of Merchandise. Returns of merchandise are accepted only if returned within thirty (30) days after the date of purchase. The original sales receipt is required for a refund. Returned phones must have been used for less than thirty (30) minutes and must be in "like new" condition with the original box, packaging and all included accessories such as charger, battery, phone strap and instruction manual. Returned merchandise other than phones must be unopened and unused, with the original price tag(s) still attached.
(d) The use of aftermarket accessories with your handset may void the handset warranty and in certain circumstances, cause catastrophic failure that could result in personal injury and property damage. Please refer to your handset owner's manual for specific warranty guidelines.
(e) If you request a warranty replacement for your phone, Cricket **may** offer to submit your phone to the warranty vendor for you, in exchange for a handling fee. Cricket may also offer to provide you with a refurbished replacement phone in advance of the warranty vendor determining whether your phone is under warranty. In such case, Cricket may charge you a fee for providing the replacement phone. If the warranty vendor determines that your phone is under warranty, we will credit your account with the fee we charged you for providing the replacement phone (but not the handling fee); if your phone is found not under warranty, Cricket will keep the fee charged for the replacement phone as the purchase price (including applicable taxes) for the replacement phone. In each case, the phone submitted to the warranty vendor will not be returned to you.

So see, Cricket was NOT wrong (I added the **** for emphasis). I know that you're saying that it was "fraudulent", but really, it was not.

YOU DID NOT READ THE COMPLAINT BEFORE YOU REBUTED

My complaint is not that cricket makes bad phones it is that they will not follow through on a customer service issue that they will replace a phone if it has a manufacturer defect within one year of purchase , and it has not been dropped or water damaged for you to refer it to the insurance for replacement which is fraudulent and i have a text message from a cricket customer service employee telling me when I do my claim to p.s say it is broken but shhh i will get in trouble for telling you this... Its not about the phones that i know you do not manufacture yourself It is about morals and telling your customers to fraudulently lie to financially save cricket and make assurrion go down because of you immoral values.

Not Cricket's fault that phones stop working....

Cricket Wireless does NOT make cellular phones. The company only gives cell phone service to the phone. IF you have any manufacturer defects that stop the phone from working, call the MANUFACTURER of the phone. Generally, Cricket can only do manufacturer replacements within 90 days of purchase. Afterwards, you have to contact the cell phone manufacturer.
