  • Cross Country Auto Transport Aka CCAT
    www.auto-move.com
    Cooper City, Florida
    U.S.A.
  • Phone:
    888-546-move
  • Category:

Check out Consumer Affairs website on Cross Country Auto Transport:
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/auto_trans/cross_country.html

And the Better Business Bureau of Florida has nothing good to say about them either.
http://www.orlando.bbb.org/codbrep.html?ID=13005272&cons=y&fromWin=SearchStd.asp

And now I will add my voice to those that complain that:
1)Hurry hurry hurry. Fax us that contract and credit card information.
2)Credit card gets charged $200 by CCAT within 2 hours of the FAX. This will be the only fast response you will ever get from them.

NOTE: These guys have a different address for the credit card:
Cross Country Auto Transport
3901 SW 47th Ave No 414
Davie, FL 33314
Merchant #8001471617

3)Schedule pickup of car. On Thurs May 12, 2005 got a call from the driver looking for instructions on how to get to my house. Mapquest before leaving to pick up a vehicle would be a professional procedure but I gave him instructions where he could pick my SUV. "It's a car? I was told to pick up a motorcycle. We don't have room for a car if it's more than 5 ft high. Let me stop at a rest stop and measure the exact clearance to see if it will fit" NEVER HEARD BACK FROM DRIVER NOR CCAT. Called CCAT later in the day and was told "No problem. We'll have a full sized truck carrier there for Friday or Saturday at the latest".

4) Take off from work Friday; no truck. Call CCAT. Get told we'll be called back. No callback. NO pickup on Saturday.

5) No pickup Sun or Monday. Call CCAT on Monday.(Always LONG hold times). Get told the truck is in NY and needs to be offloaded before they can come up and pick my car up. They'll be there Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.

6) Call today (Tueday May 17, 2005) wait on hold for 5 mins, call back. Complain about being put on hold and mention Consumer Affairs complaints. Get put on hold for 30 seconds and then told "My boss says he'll make some calls and get back to you. Give me your number and he'll call you back. Just give him an hour". Two and a half hours later. Nothing.

Do I trust these guys to take our car cross country safely????? NO WAY! Do I want my "deposit back" YOU BET! It will be 7 days since they called to pick up my vehicle the first time.

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!

As the subject says. I wish I had googled these guys before my wife handed out my credit card number.

First of all...whether you agree with the riporrreport warning that the Better Business Bureau is biased against people who are not members and biased towards those who are members...you need to read WHAT they say. In the cast of CCAT they merely echo exactly what all the compaints have said. No returned calls, no on time pickup etc.

I've read CCAT's response to another complaint where they mention the requirement to send the request for a refund by certified mail to guarantee that the letter gets there within 7 days. BULLSHIT.

Customer's are told that they need to get their signed contracts there immediately and that they need to have it FAX for the fastest response. They accept the faxed copy immediately and then ask you to send the original in the mail later.

The cancellation and refund request could be processed in the exact same way.

If the company is going to respond I'm curious if they could come up with a reason for 4 different addresses in a year an a half time period. They claim only a small number of people have problems. I doubt that. I'd love to know, of the number of people who catch on early or get fed up and cancel the pickup of a vehicle, how many actually get their $200 back again?

If we get our deposit back I will come back to the website and announce it. I see that at least one person has got theirs back...so there's hope.
