I have had a Cross Country Visa for about a year now, not by choice, I cannot get rid of the damned thing.

I have tried paying off my account in full and having the account closed, but to no avail.

The pay-on-the-net option at www.crosscountrybank.com has a fee of $5 and you cannot anticipatively pay the $5 with your card amount due to the fact that it caps (will not let you pay more than) your current due amount. This setup insures that if you pay-on-the-net, you will always have an account with cross country. Not only that, but with multiple $27 fees, for whatever the hell they decide, you never will receive a statement for less than $50 (and a $50 statement from them is polite for those bastards, even if you paid in full and never used the card that month).

The pay-by-phone method is exactly the same as the pay-on-the-net method, save for the fact that you actually have to talk to one of these abusive, ill-mannered (err, no-mannered), and overpaid people. This setup also insures that if you pay-on-the-net, you will always have an account with cross country.

Last month (September, 2002) my account had a balance of $514.99, I sent a check for the amount of $516.00. I have just received a statement with a $3.86 finance fee for a $0.00 cash advance (which I might add, obviously I never made... how the hell do you make a $0.00 cash advance anyway?). So according to this statement, I apparently and according to cross country bank only, owe them $2.85.

I am sending the $2.85 as a cashier's check, and by certified - return receipt mail with the stipulation that the account be closed, and the warning that all attempted communications by cross country bank will be recorded and logged in the future in preparation for a suit. I am retaining copies of all communication I send out, and am completely prepared to file charges if need be.

IF ANYONE HEARS OF A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST CROSS COUNTRY BANK AKA APPLIED CARD SYSTEMS, INC -- PLEASE CONTACT ME!

Their actions are illegal, lewd, rude, obscene, fraudulent, and without honor and they should be shut down.
