CCB is horrible. Twice they have taken money from my checking account WITHOUT my prior approval. I have bank statements to prove this; no where in their computer records will they find an authorization or tape recording from me authorizing them to do such a thing. The most recent withdrawal just happened a few days ago and my account now sits at a negative balance. When I called in last time to speak to someone about this last withdrawl, the first rep hung up on me and the second rep argued with me. They owe me money from both withdrawls and they should also pay ALL my bank fees. I have been having problems with them for months. I have requested to speak to the CEO/President or a Vice President, but I have been refused this. I was told they will not speak to me. I informed the rep that I work with Executives everyday and I know that is not true. I work in Risk Management and I know I have a solid case against them and so do many others. I will be contacting the FDIC and anyone else I can think of to get my account straightened out and the harrassing phone calls stopped. They start calling earlier in the morning. They call everyday at work, but I have a display phone and I don't answer when they call. They have even gotten so bold as to call my co-worker and ask for me. She, not knowing what has been going on, transfers them to me. Why are they calling my co-workers? If that is not harrassment, I don't know what is. I could go on all day and give examples of their mistreatment.

Why CCB appears to have taken withdrawals from your bank.

In response to the posting as to CCB taking "unauthorized" charges from your bank, this is simply not the case. When I first saw a withdrawal on my bank statement, I immediately contacted CCB to find out what this debit to my account was about. CCB uses a slightly different method for clearing checks than most, and this method saves them money. Rather than sending the check through to your bank, they take the amount YOU HAVE AUTHORIZED by sending them a check and make a debit from your bank account instead of sending the check for clearing. This method is called the Automated Clearing House and is perfectly legal. It is a standard method used by almost all major banks. It is essentially the same thing as making purchases with your bank's Visa/Master Card Check Card from your bank. You can write CCB and ask them to process your check in the traditional manner and they will do so, as I requested this method and they have followed through as the customer service rep told me they would.

While I haven't had any horrible experience with CCB, I have questioned their "Cash-advance finance charge", but have had resoltuion when I've spoken to customer service representatives. Also, it is strange that the Customer Service number is not toll free. The toll free number provided only allows you to check your balances and then they charge you $.50 - $.75 for checking that - so really the call isn't really toll free either. I have since closed my account with CCB in the last month as there are many other companies with positive credentials that will help those with credit problems. I suggest checking out your local Consumer Credit Counseling Service for honest help with restoring your credit.
