Cross Country Bank ridiculous overlimit, late & interest ripoff chargesI Couldn't Call My Doctor
First of all, I had been paying my Cross Country Bank Card every mnth, on time, until May 2001. I had made a purchase at the same time the annual fees came up, that put me over the credit limit, which i was charged fees for. Then I also get charged for credit protection i did not request. More over the limit fees, interest goes up. Then the calls start vcoming in. Well the only way I can dispute anything is to write to the disputes dept. I was told I cannot have the name of a supervisor or manager. Also at the time, you had to pay for asking questions via phone.
Well my story was the same as all the other stories I have seen, ridiculous overlimit, late charges, interest charges, etc.
Went to credit counseling service For CC and one other credit card. My goal was to pay off credit cards and use only one card from a reputable co (is that even possible). I don't know I have GM Card, and so far so good.
Well I sent in my payment to credit counseling minus $35 for that week. So that meant I missed one month payment with Cross Country. Well they jack the fees up again, and actually the calls from them never stopped. I also have two letters from their "legal counsel" demandiing money. This is actually illegal I was told. They broke the Credit Counseling agreement after one missed payment.
The straw that broke the camels back...my 7 month old son was very sick yesterday, fever etc. I was about to call my doctor. Cross Country calls. They go through part of their speil, I tell them to please get off the line, I need to call my pediatrician, plus I talked to someone the previous night. So the woman says "So we will put this down as a refusal to pay." I said no I have to make an important call. She tells me that I have to understand that I have to make a payment then or it is a refusal to pay. Well I just lost it. I told her my baby was sick, she has to get off the phone or there is going to be a lawsuit. I was ready to press criminal charges if there was a way to then and there. So I hung up the phone. They did not disconnect on their end.
Then it comes on again, and there is a recorded message. I can't use my phone for up to 5 minutes. I keep clicking it on and off. Finally I said get off the g****m phone, jou are putting my son's health in jeopardy. I could not use the phone to call my doctor. I told them they were harassing me. They said they have a right to call. Fine, but when someone says they need to call a doctor, get the hell off the phone. I want to file a criminal complaint, civil complaint. I want to do everything legally possible to make them pay. You get in the way of me taking care of my children over a few hundred dollars especially and you have messed with the wrong person.
