Complaint Review: CROSS COUNTRY BANK

i got the cross country card in july of 2000. i never got a bill to send a payment in the mail or i've never got a phone call. i got married and moved out of my mom's house and i still never got a statement in the mail. until recently, i got a letter from a collection agency saying i owe cross country $548.49. i have never used the card for anything. my credit line was $300.00. after reading all the stuff i'm kinda worried about paying. does any body have any suggestions? do i call the collecion agency and ask for a statement? they are telling me that they are sending this notice in advance of any action by our office providing you with an opportunity to amicably settle this account.
