Annual Fee Charged after 11 months resulting in $30 overlimit fee .....

At the end of the summer, I contacted all of my credit card companies to find out when the annual fees would be charged, as I get paid every 2 weeks, I wanted to budget for upcoming car expenses. I was told that my annual Cross Country Bank card fee would be charged in October just as it was last year.

But, to my surprise, the September bill shows a charge of $50 annual fee - resulting in a $30 overlimit fee. This appears *after* I made the call - making me wonder if the customer service reps actually try to get the consumer overlimit fees as some sort of *quota*.

There is no reason why an annual fee is not charged the same month every year. All of my other credit cards do this year after year. When I complained, a customer rep told me to fax a letter and request a refund, which I did.

I received a letter back today from a "Meryl Beard" (Customer Service Department) stating that after "reviewing your account it was determined that all fees assessed to your account are valid".

This is absolutely deceptive and an unacceptable business practice.

I am writing this to warn others of this thievery in hopes that other more customer-responsive
credit card issuers will gain the consumers that Cross Country Bank alienates.
