Cross Country Bank ripoff over the limit fee scam artists ripoff Boca Raton Florida
This company has been the headache of all my credit cards. I had finally got on track with paying them promptly to avoid anymore late or over the limit fees. Well on last month's statement I was charged an over the limit fee for fianace charges putting me over the limit. On top of that on my statement they advised me that next month I was going to be charged my annual fee.
I went on line to post my payment, I decided to pay over double the payment they were requesting. This was to get me back under the limit, to cover my annual fee and then some. Well I received my statement this month and you will never believe this one. My statement started out with a charge to my account on 8/28/02, then my payment posted after that, the charge for the on line payment, my annual fee, an over the limit fee and then finance charges. They charged me on my last month's statement the over the limit fee 8/5/02. My payment wasn't due until 8/30/02. I paid my payment on 8/28/02. They noted at the bottom of my statement that I went over the limit on 8/28/02. The fact is I was already over my limit.
I called customer service and spoke to a rep, who could offer me nothing, I then spoke to an account supervisor who said I was not charged the over the limit fee in the same billing cycle and I needed to read my customer cardholder agreement. I wasn't aware that a company could charge you twice in a 23 day period or for that matter in the same month an over the limit fee. They see it as a different billing cycle because they didn't post it until 9/5/02. This is fraud as far as I am concerned, regardless of what the cardholder agreement reads.
These people should be banned from holding a business lisence.
