Cross Country Bank Took Advantage
I sympathize with many of you in the credit hassle. For many years I utilized credit for low cash flow and at times ran a little late on payments. I wont deny it was mostly my fault but that doesnt excuse the attitudes and communication skills (or lack of)by the collectors of many creditors. CCB is a SECOND chance creditor. And as we all know, the world revolves around numbers and "calculated risks". C.C.B plays the game just as any other lender would.
However badly you are talked to, annoyed by or insulted with the person(s) efforting the collection. They are trained to be courteous and spend 4 weeks going through the training. The owner, Rocco Abasinio (pardon if mispelled), implemented the training program and its ideals. However, the gambit is after training, the pressure is on to achieve maximum returns on the loans issued. So pressure from superiors (for bonuses sakes) tends to roll down hill (just like crap) to their collectors. To obtain maximum results for higher collections, many collectors tend to use whatever means necassary to obtain those numbers needed. (even fraudulent reportings of payments or withdrawing of monies against the cardholder's consent, some even take credit for other collectors collections!)Irregardless of the cardholders financial and often duressfull situation. I know many cardholders lie... but many tell the truth. Differentiating between the 2 is being presumptuous. The collectors are often young (no offense or discrimnation intended)and have the highest paying job they've ever had.
Being a "collector" can appear to give some false sense of authority and so the collector has for the 1st time in his or her life, an opprotunity to utilize a large lenders resources to capitalize on cardholders miscommunications, misfortunes and/or inability to pay. Some just dont pay period. For myself, I restructured my debts from divorce, settled many accounts and went on to have excellent credit. AND BELIEVE ME, I DESTROY EVERY CREDIT OFFER recieved. For the record? There are a few really nice and good collectors out there, and I personally know one that works at CCB.
Be sure when the "good collectors" (emphasis added) call you, they are making a sincere effort to help you maintain/improve your credibility, repay your loan and inform you of any late/over limit fees due. Commend those people. They are doing their best to improve CCB's reputation as well as treat you the cardholder with the respect and dignity you deserve and expect. P.S. If you do insist on using credit to maintain a standard of living you can't afford, be sure to read the ENTIRE agreement BEFORE signing up!
It can take over 20 YEARS making the minimum monthly payment to rid yourself of the debt at 24.99%! At that rate, you might as well adopt the collector your talking to!!!
