I was offered a chance to rebuild my credit history after my bankruptcy with an offer from Cross Country Bank. They told me that I would only have to pay a one time fee of $79.00 which could be charged to the card and I would have a credit limit of $200.00 dollars.

What they did not tell me was that I had to pay $119.00 in hidden costs like handling fees, security fees, annual fees, etc. This meant that I only had $2.00 dollars to charge on the card until I paid them off. I also found out that the charged a 21.99% APR.

I started to pay my bill, but I lost my job in the process. I called them (and was charged for the call) and told them my situation. I asked for them to cancel my card since I had no way of paying them. I was told that my account was closed and all I had to do was pay the remaining balance.

That was about 6 months ago. Since then, they have tacked on late fees, overdraft fees, etc. of such huge amounts, that I couldn't afford to pay them. My bill is now over $1000 dollars and I am harrassed every day by them to pay this or else.

They sent me a notice telling me that they were putting in a R-19 credit rating for me which is the worse you can get. They also have sent to a collection agency, but they still keep sending my bills along with the collection agency. They amount keeps increasing no matter what.
