Crossroad subscriptions Inc. Tamela Knox, alleged salesperson ID# 057 "I stopped stuttering!" Aubrey, Texas
A young, attractive African-American woman came to our door last evening selling magazine subscriptions. She was a fast-talker and said she was accumulating "points" so she could win a contest and go on a trip to St. Thomas. She claimed that she was a student in a language and speech school and as a result of their work with her, "I stopped stuttering!" She showed us a list of magazines and explained that we would be getting "bargain" rates and that a %age of our cost was tax-deductible.
I wish I had followed my gut instinct and checked out this company on my computer while she was chatting up my husband. We paid her $38 cash, $25 of which was supposedly tax deductible. This morning when I FINALLY followed through with my hunch, I discovered that this company has been ripping people off for at least 3 years now. The phone # this young woman gave us was a bad # -- disconnect signal.
I called our local sheriff and filed a report. Just because we were being dumb is no reason others should not be warned.
