We were staying in this hotel and we went for an Executive floor room. Crowne Plaza has been advertising the 'sleep advantage' program for some time now, but this hotel does not offer it in all rooms. Our room was not. The room was clean, but at least they could be honest and honor our request for a renovated room, but they did not.

Turn down service was an amenity on executive floors, but it never happened, I called the front desk 4 times and asked when it would happen, but nothing ever happened. Strike 1

They tried to charge us an extra $13.00 for an extra 'free' breakfast that we were told that 'was included for all room occupants', the extra person was only 17, and he usually only eats one thing for breakfast, like 1 croissant. I would only spend $13.00 on a croissant made by Paul Bocouse. Strike 2

I remember something that mentioned that there was a manager on duty 24 hours a day. This was not true. I had to wait until almost 8am to speak to one. All they offered to do for our bad experience was reduce our rate from $209 to $189. Not acceptable. I think it should have been reduced to $104.50 Strike 3.

I will never stay at this hotel again, and I will urge others to avoid it at all cost, as I felt that we were ripped off.

They lost the Crowne

Guess they deserve to lose the crowne, it still is a bad hotel, according to some bad reviews, as its currently #91/106 on tripadvisor for hotels in Montreal. Its now called 'Plaza Hotel Centre-Ville'. Thank god I'll never be staying there again, and I've found a lovely place to stay called Le Square Phillips, which is a LOT cheaper, and a million times nicer.

Oh! I probably forgot to mention that during my stay, I saw a maintenence guy putting Comet Cleaner with Bleach into the pool. ICK!

I know Liam, and his family, and he talked to me about this whole thing. Like Liam, Our family stayed at the exact same hotel, and we had similar problems. We also stayed on an executive floor, and like Liam, we called for turn-down service 4 times, but when we called Housekeeping, all we got was an answering machine. It is clearly stated that the rate included the service, which also included a bedtime snack. With regards to the breakfast, Liam was right to complain because we were also told by the reservations agent that vreakfast was included for all occupants in the room, and we refused to pay the extra 13 dollars.

He also said that he DID INDEED ask for a Sleep Advantage room, so he definately has the right to complain about an awful bed.

I feel we both got ripped off, but I really dont feel that in our case that compensation is required, but since he is furious, by all means give him what he wants.

First off, who would bother calling the front desk 4 TIMES to request turn-down service? After the first request, if the hotel employees could not drop everything to bow down to your every command, why did you not simply fold the covers down yourself? Talk about lazy!

If your son "only eats one thing for breakfast" then why didn't you buy him "one croissant" from the coffee shop rather than bring him to an all-you-can-eat buffett, requesting that he be allowed to eat for free?

The "Sleep Advantage" program that is currently advertised is NOT available in all rooms, and this is clearly stated in ALL of the advertisements. You do not state that you ever requested such a room, and now because your room did not have this amenity you feel that the hotel is at fault?

And to top it off, you think they should refund half your money? Stop being ridiculous. Worry about the more important things in life, that is, assuming that you have a life.
