Called Crums to take advantage of flyer offer to discount price of Trane A/C if I was willing to change installation dates at moments notice. Agent arrived on May 21 and I signed a purchase agreement to have A/C installed on May 28. Agent phoned May 22 and stated he could install on May 23. I agreed because this qualified me for a $2195 discount. To this date Crums has denied the discount.

I contracted for a Trane A/C. The contract designated a Goodman condenser. Crum installed an Amana A/C and said that is what Goodman condenser meant Amana. I did not receive my Trane. They did not install a Goodman. I got an Amana twice the size of the Heil A/C they removed.

Crums guarantee is that the A/C should not vary 3 degrees plus or minus from the thermostat setting. My A/C varied form 4 to 6 degrees when the temperature exceeded 90 degrees outdoors. Crums denies that any A/C can deliver 72 degrees in 90 degree weather despite what the guarantee says. Crums will not honor their guarantee to me.

Crums guesses that my problem with poor performance could be my ducting. They want to charge me $500 to "correct" my ducting, although even upon inspection they could not definitively cite the problem. That's like getting a new radiator in your car and the mechanic not properly applying the hoses. Should I pay for the correction? Especially if he only guesses there may be a leak? Anyway, would I trust the same mechanic to correct his mistake?

Crums agreed to install a "doghouse", a framed screen to prevent theft, access to creatures like stray cats, and limit falling debris. Instead they screwed a sheet metal shield over the duct connection to the A/C to stop further erosion of the sealant they had used to connect the duct to the A/C and they called this a "doghouse".

Crums Brian Wrong, in one of his last responses to Ripoff, threatened a slander suit against a detractor, effectively chilling future complaints. For all potential Ripoff complainants they should remember that when respondents threaten such lawsuits to quell or reduce the number of complaints, truth is an absolute defense against slander (oral disparagement, incidentally) or libel, written disparagement. What I described above is what I saw happen to me or is what my opion of Crums practices is.

Also, beware the back side of the initial contract from Crum. While it is not visible to the buyer, it commits you to resolve all disputes with Crums according to their terms in Orange County FL, a county to which I find Crum no longer has the nexus necessary to have standing. Buyer beware!

Brian is Wrong again when he attempts to rebut my report. First, he fails to account for the crux of the complaint, his refusal to honor the promise of a discount. Thus, he remains guilty of not performing that part of the contract and failing to explain it at all.
Mr. Wrong fails to explain why he blankets a community of elder seniors in manufactured homes with flyers promising things he later states cannot be done with manufactured homes. Is it because you can fool old people easily? His flyer promised a Trane, his words deny it can be installed, after the fact, but must switch to installation of a different brand.
He "reveals" that I registered my unit through Amana. I did not. I registered my Goodman condenser with Goodman, as any smart buyer would do since there is no way of knowing how long it will remain until corrected.
The completion form he cites as his redeeming gimmick is given to the buyer as soon as the installation is completed and has to do with those particular workmen. Sort of like taking you car from a mechanic and saying he didn't dirty the car and that it started up when ignited. Thirty miles later, it breaks down. The Wrong equipment broke down the first time the outdoor temp exceeded 90deg.
Apparently, after 60 years in the business, Wrong didn't learn the difference between, and the uses for, a "doghouse". What he calls a doghouse is merely shielding over his ducting that he failed to attach for over a month on my AC, possibly causing the complaint of performane failure. A real doghouse can indeed be used, by padlock, to prevent or discourage theft of the copper tubing so inviting to thieves.
I think it is misleading to claim 69 years in the business because it implies Mr. Wrong has that experience personally and I kind of doubt he is that old.
Mr. Wrong ignored the Crums guarantee in his rebuttal that the AC should not exceed 3 deg. difference from the thermostat setting. This is his own contradiction and his own proof that my AC is substandard.
Mr. Wrong accuses me of "mistruths" which cannot be found in any dictionary, but which by inference and nuance equates to "liar". The word "libel" is in the dictionary, Mr. Wrong. My truths are an absolute defense against any accusation of lying.

It is an unfortunate fact that Mr. Ostler feels Crums Climate Control misled him in his purchase. It is in our pratice here at Crums Climate Control to discuss the many different options the homeowner has, so they can choose the best equipment that fits their needs, price, energy efficiency, etc. Once they have decided, the project manager reviews the contract thoroughly with the homeowner.

Mr. Ostler received the equipment that he signed for and paid for. When the work was complete, he also signed a Completion form and satisfaction form. Mr. Ostler then registered his unit through Amana. Crums has attempted to address Mr. Ostler's issues as best as possible. Unfortunately, no resolution has come of our many attempts.

Mr.Ostler has neglected to infom Rip Off Report that he lives in a Manufactured home, which does not have a typical, traditional installation. We have tried to educate Mr. Ostler, but those attempts have also been unsuccessful. As we do with all package systems, a "doghouse" or sheet metal covering was installed. It is not atheft preventer; it is a shield for the tubbing running between the house and the unit.

We are writing this, not as a form of rebuttal to Mr. Ostler's mistruths. Rather , as a clarification that we can accept when we make mistakes. We address and rectify as best as we have done in the 69 years of service to the community. There was no misleading in this case. there was no "wrong equipment". There is nothing more that we can sat to Mr. Ostler that has not already been said or done in our efforts to make him a satisfied customer.
