Mike Martinez is the owner and head coach of Crusader All Stars Cheer and Gymnastica in Grapevine Texas.

Mr. Martinez publicly presents himself as a Christian.  Mr. Martinez presents the cheer team as a ministry and proclaims that they cheer to praise Jesus Christ.

Mr. Martinez is far very from being a Christian.  His behavior is the very opposite of Christian morals.

Mr. Martinez treats many parents of the cheerleaders with complete disrespect and in some cases, much worse than just that, involving himself very inappropriately in their personal lives.

Mr. Martinez participates in malicious slander of some parents.  These are parents Mr. Martinez actually does not know at all.  What is even more disturbing is he maliciously slanders these parents to their own children.  This is actual emotional abuse of these children.

It must be stated that Nancy Russell, who helps Mr. Martinez, participates in all of these disturbing actions as well.

Do not allow your son or daughter to have any association with Mike Martinez or Nancy Russell of Crusader All Stars Cheer and Gymnastics and please make other people in the community aware of this to protect our children.

This has been an awful experience within the Cheerleading program. There have been a lot of injuries and the coaches rotate constantly. The business office is not good with keeping the accounts straight, and often take more money than you agreed upon and they fail to provide what we have paid for as per their "contract". The owner of the gym and his coaching staff play favorites and if your child is not one of the chosen ones your child will not be featured, he personally attacks the children. The coaching style and technique breaks down the children and is not a positive environment at all. His entire program is built on a "Christian" based program complete with Crosses hanging everywhere - prayers - and all - but the fact is this is the most unchristian place I have ever walked into. This business is dishonest and is not a positive environment for your children to be in at all.  Mike Martinez often speaks in front of the students about their team mates or coaching staff - as well as he speaks poorly of his former and current staff.

To the mother that wrote this, I was one of Mike's kids from 16 years ago and I have been friends with him since then. He is one of the most respectful and caring people I have ever met in my life. He is a wonderful coach and cares about these kids like they were his own. I feel sorry for your child for not getting to be apart of the crusader family. Mike is a very strong and devoted Christian. The family that you get with Crusaders can never be replaced and you will never find a more caring coach and person at any other gym in the DFW area. I am also assuming that you are not a Christian instead of going to him personally and telling him your problem, you have to go to a website and blast a good mans name. For future parents, or anyone looking to be a gymnast or a cheerleader Crusader All Star cheer and gymnastics is one amazing gym and family. I promise you the service is amazing, and their number one thing they focus on is God and to have faith! God Bless

Not emotional abuse

My name is Nancy Russell and my daughter cheers for Crusader All Stars and has been on a team for the past 5 years.  I started working for Mike last December when he needed someone in the office.  I agreed to work for him since I admired his strong faith in what believes in and also what he is trying to do with his gym. Mike is one of the few men that stands by his word and is almost too nice when it comes to business. To whomever wrote this complaint, I would like to know what kind of emotional abuse we perform at the gym?  Could it be the praise we give all of the kids on a job well done?  Could it be offering an ear when the kids come in crying because they have had a stressful day?  Or perhaps it is the fellowship that Coach Mike tries to instill on all of the kids and lets them all know that it's not about winning, but about being a TEAM.  Trust me when I tell you, I am probably one of the most protective moms in the area.  I worked for a children's hospital for 10 years and know first hand the damage that any kind of abuse can do to a child.  I also have a child that was abused physically and mentally at a Christian day care, so I KNOW the pain that was caused and the difficulty in overcoming that horrible event.  My child has thrived at Crusader All Stars as have well over 200 other children.  The person that posted this complaint failed to give us any incident of emotional abuse, or any incident of where Mike disrespected the parent or slandered them to their own children.  Is this the case of a parent who is truly just an unhappy person who feels their child should have made a "higher team" than what they did?  For anyone that is reading this, I am asking the person that made this original report to please give just ONE instance of emotional abuse that Mike Martinez has made with their child, and I am also asking them to please give just ONE instance of malicious slander toward them that they are accusing ME of doing.  If there is NO response from the said person that filed this report, than we are all to assume this was just an unhappy parent that felt their child needed to be on a higher team than what the Coach felt they should be on.  May God Bless you!
