Crystal Vision Software Services Trial offer ripoff by Crystal Vision Carlsbad California
In mid October 2007 I was contacted by phone to participate in a trial Offer for $19.95. Since the parent company was purported to be Borderbund I agreed to try the offer. The woman on the phone said that with the software I would receive a $20.00 coupon that I could use with my first purchase. I also understood it was a one-time charge.
Once I received the software I went online and checked into the site. After browsing the site I determined there was nothing of value on it that I wanted to purchase. The site did have a link to a site that offered low cost inkjet cartridges but the coupon was not go for those items. I determined that I had probably been misled and decided not to purchase them. At that time I decided that I had been ripped off so I threw away the CD and information deciding not to use the service. If it stated anywhere on it that I was going to be billed an additional membership fee and $19.95 each month I do not remember seeing it. I checked though my trash and could not find the letter that come with the CD so I cannot verify if it stated that I would be billed more.
Two events happened today 11/29/2007. I received my Mastercard monthly statement and a new envelope from Crystal Vision. Both showing me that I had been billed a membership fee for $49.95 and $19.95 for my next monthly CD.
I called their 800 number and informed them I did not want to be a member and that there was nothing on their site of any value to me. Mostly it was old or junk software and worthless to me and probably others who have been led to believe it was a one-time membership fee of $19.95. Tracy, the woman I talked to at their 800 number offered to remove from my Mastercard the monthly $19.95 for October and cancel my membership. I thanked her and chalked the experience up to my education and gullibility.
I just want others to know that if you read this statement before purchasing the trial offer, DONT or your original 30 days are not up yet, to be sure and call 800-444-1343 and cancel your membership.
Its really too bad that we have companies (people) that only intend to deceive the public like this one seems to be doing.
