I submitted a valid rebate request to the Kragen rebate center and was issued a check that I sent to my credit union for deposit. My credit union credited the deposit to my account but subsequently mailed me the check back which was marked with a Stop Payment stamp and a $25 returned check fee notice. I have submitted a request for a store credit of $25 to CSK, Inc. I am not holding my breath but will update this report as soon as I hear something or in a week, whichever comes first.

Update: CSK rebate and credit for bank fee received.

Although it took nearly 3 months, which is way too long, CSK did in fact follow through and sent a new rebate check (which they did in January) and...drum roll...sent a check for $25, the full amount that my bank charged for their stop payment on my deposit of their first rebate check. I am happy to report that both the rebate check and the bank fee repayment check cleared processing.

My effort to recover these funds was enhanced substantially by having copies of the rebate form sent and original receipt, being persistent, firm, and polite in my efforts to recover my funds, and being willing to follow up with people who had promised to take action (that means keeping good notes, names, titles, and phone numbers).

Lastly, I have no idea of where this final post will end up because it was not easily or plainly evident how to add an update...even though Update is touted as an option.

I sent the following email 0n 12/29:
****************************************************
To: contactus@partsamerica.com
Subject: PartsAmerica.com Help Request - Other
I submitted a properly completed rebate form and was sent a fulfillment check that I sent to my credit union for deposit. My credit union sent the check back because a stop payment had been issued by Kragen, et al, and charged me a $25 bad check return fee. I am submitting this to you to request a $25 credit at my local Kragen to cover the bad check charge. Please let me know where to send the documentation to secure my credit. Thank you, Chris

I received a response from their customer service on 12/30: In part it said,
"In your case where your check has been returned, you may send the original check along with receipts and/or statements from your bank to verify any charges to your account to the following address:
Garvin Promotional Group
Attn: Customer Service Outreach
7405 E. Monte Cristo Ave.
Scottsdale, AZ 85260
We truly apologize for any inconvenience and frustration you have encountered with this issue and appreciate the extreme amount of patience you have endured during this process. If you have already submitted the aforementioned information to the rebate company at the address above then no further action will be needed and your reimbursement for the bank fees will be paid shortly.
Again we apologize and appreciate your patience during this transitional period.
Sincerely,
Rich Johnson
Sr. Claims Administrator

I am submitting my documentation tomorrow (1/7). I will provide an update when (and if) I receive reimbursement for the $25 returned check bank fee. In the meantime, if you have a rebate problem with Kragen, et al, the people to contact are listed here.
