Where do I begin? First off I've donated plasma before at Biomat, I've never had a problem with them but I decided to switch to CSL because it's closer to my job. These people are so meticulous it's ridiculous. After finally getting my Hematocrit level passed the minimum 38 (Biomat never made me go through that nonsense mind you. Yes they screened me, but they never told me I had to be at a certain level.) I finally go through the remaining screening process. They ask about my tattoos and piercings I'm thinking why does it matter as long as it's been well over a year? So because I have a name and a 5 point crown tattoo they denied me because it's gang affiliated. Are you kidding me? I'm not, nor have I ever been affiliated with such in my life! I got the tattoo back in 09 I was young and thought the crown was cute. I didn't realize until after it was done what it stood for. There were people there who looked grimy and borderline homeless looking for a quick fix of funds where as I was there to get some extra cash to be able to put in the difference on my rent. And frankly, if I was the one receiving plasma I wouldn't care who or what they may seem affiliated with as long as they're healthy and drug free shoot thanks for helping me! I have never been denied anything because of a past choice and I have never felt so angry for being denied behind something so erroneous in my life. So people please if you have the time patience and are tattoo free by all means go to them. I'll gladly recommend a crack head there because they seem to love helping them.

I just wanted to say that I have been to both Biomat and CSL Plasma. CSL has been much more accommodating. Also let me add that I have several tattoos and piercings and was never hassled regarding them. My husband also has tattoos that he got when he was younger that are often mistaken for gang tattoos. They're not, they're a logo from a band'a album he likes and very visible. He wasn't hassled about the content of any of his tattoos. So I'm not sure what happened with the person who got denied but personally I've never had a problem. The only time I've been denied is when my temperature was too high and that was for my own good in case I was sick. CSL Plasma is my go to place when I need just a little extra to supplement my income from paycheck to paycheck.
