After accepting and completing my complimentary workout on November 5th, I was fed the pitch that CBPT has. Of course, having just worked out, I was tired, and full of adrenaline so I was more agreeable. I was told by the sales representative, Douglas, that the fees were monthly--$180. I signed up because I felt I could take this on reasonably. He was unable to get his printer to work properly, so the printed contract has previsions missing and unable to read.

What was clear was that I was charged $422.94 without explanation. I returned to him the very next day for an explanation and decline before the charge when through on my card. He explained to me that the charge was for the first two months. As my contract was very poorly printed out, I had to take his word for it at least. This was on November 6th, almost an exact day later.

On December 5th, there was a $190 charge on my chard that I noticed on the 13th. Inquiries to both the billing company and their corporate office shed light on that Douglas had used misinformation to keep me and his commission. The initial fee was for the first and last month of the agreement. Of course, as many who have complained about this company in the past, there was the 30 day written warning and termination fee. Part of the provision is that I pay 15% of the contract price, which turns out to be $324. On top of that, they will charge for January whether I want the service or not.

Now, the company says for that last month I have four months to use the sessions. And after reading complaint after complaint on here, it seems very likely the company will side with their contract even though mine is hardly readable. I'd go back to see Douglas and straighten things out, but he either doesn't understand the system he works for or uses double-talk to get his way. Either way he has no credibility with me.

I've gone the route of reporting to the BBB, and now here. I'm unsure if my efforts will at least save me from further financial exploitation, but I do hope that my documentation here can serve to either steer someone away or assist in any action against this company. While I cannot say that I had training issues or missing sessions, these reports from others have me concerned for my already ailing credit, and even safety as convicts are often hired--of which Doug is according to my trainer.

In any case, this is my report. Be safe, good luck, and happy holidays. I assure you of those things, thanks to CBPT I am only safe.

Custom Built Persoanl Training does not abide by its own contract

In addition to previous entries, it seems now even after having sent them their termination fee, Custom Built Personal Training is acting like it never arrived. The check, made out to them, was sent with confirmation. It arrived at their offices on December 31st. The charge showed up on January 7th. On the 14th, there was a later stating that they were waiting for the fee.

They don't even abide by their own contract!

Company doesn't care about customers, managers lie to keep their commision.

All efforts have proved fruitless. Due to my low income status, I tried seeking legal advice with CT Legal Services. They don't find what was done ethical, and informed me of few options. Interestingly enough, when I went to cancel my contract a day after I signed, I was within my rights. Which means the manager deliberately lied just to keep his commission.

The company is only concerned with their money. Irregardless of what I do, my credit's taking a big hit because of one man.

Let it be known, if you happen to sign a contract with them, you have 72 hours to cancel without penalty. If you're reading this, and have time, CANCEL IMMEDIATELY. There are numerous consumer complaint reports all talking about the dissatisfaction with this company. It ranges from training sessions and services that aren't honored, to unfair and scrupulous stipulations. Legally, the company is within its rights and anyone ensnared is in serious risk.

I've opted to pay them their termination fee and can only hope that when February comes around, that my account will really be terminated.
