Entered a contest about a free window renovation in November 2007. Contacted by Tim Mueller (Company President) saying that we won a free steel entry door. He wanted to make an appointment to drop the door at my home. On December 13 2007 he came to my home with no door, but instead came to try and sell a house full of triple pane windows. He did his presentation for about an hour and then said the price of $12,600. We origianally just wanted the free door that he purchased from Menards. He then preceded to say that we couldn't get this great price for long and we had to act now. He then proceded to say that he promised that he could get us financed at 6-7% interest rate over 10 years with a payment of about $70 per month. Which we would save that in energy costs. So we agreed to it. It was over the 3 days that you have to get out of contracts before he contacted us saying he got us approved but not for $12,600 but $9,600. He never said that we didn't get approved for the 7% loan for 10 years. We found out about 10 days later that it was approved by GE Money for a 23% interest rate with payments of 3% of the balance or almost $300 per month. Well to our shock we called him and asked him what was going on? He said that they were the company they go through. The 7% loan for 10 years was a HELOC which was up to me to get. I realized that I couldn't get one because I didn't have enough equity in my home at the time. So to make a long story short it took him 2 months to make a time to get to my home to install the windows. As if this wasn't enough to make me furious, he sent a bunch of incompetent contractors who don't normally install windows to do the installation. Well you can see where this is going. To say that the job was screwed up was as understatement. They didn't seal the windows properly, didn't wrap the windows properly or silicone them right, didn't replace the rotted wood before installing windows or doing the vinyl wrap on the trim around the windows, the silicone work is the worst job I have ever seen in my life, my siding was damaged when they installed the sliding door, they even installed one of the doorknobs backwards which I had to point this out to them, the bay window wasn't properly installed or leveled and now leaks when it gets cold outside leaving frost on the inside of the windows to get the trim wet, then they left a mess around my house and didn't clean up, I had to follow them around the whole time making sure they didn't do any more damage. They also didn't stay and get the job done in a timely manner. It tood them almost 1 month on and off to finish their mess. A couple of weeks later he sent another crew out to redo the oak trim that was improperly installed. To say that I am upset is an understatement. And now he is avoiding me like the plague. I just wanted everyone to know please stay away from: CUSTOM CREATIONS out of Holmen, Wisconsin trying to sell or install windows of anykind. Once he sells the windows to you and gets paid you don't see him again.

Follow up on Tim Mueller

#6REBUTTAL Individual responds

Mon, February 15, 2010

I am the individual who first wrote the complaint on Tim Mueller of Custom Creations.  Just to let everyone know, Tim was arrested on fraud charges in 2008.  It was all over the news up here in Eau Claire, WI when it happened.  Turns out he got people credit cards from GE Money and was supposed to use the money to purchase the windows for the install.  Instead he used the money for who knows what.  When I called Winstrom Windows about a warantee issue on my windows, they informed me that I did not have a warantee.  It turns out that Tim Mueller did not pay for the windows and now I have windows installed in my home with no warantee what so ever.  To say that I was pissed is an understatement.  This d****e I hope gets to spend a few years in prison and looses everything he has.  Even if you sue him and win, you will never see a penny.  Now it turns out that Winstrom windows might come after us comsumers who where unfortunate to have Tim Mueller install our windows.  If I wasn't better than him and wouldn't get arrested for assault, I would break his kneecaps with a bat.  But then I would be no better than him.  Contractors like him gives good ones a bad name.  I will never hire a contractor or sub to do any work on my home.  And, I am getting ready to do $20K of work.  You don't know who to trust.  Even if you get referrals, it really don't mean anything.  You can pay people to say good things about you.  In my eyes, contractors are just there to get paid and then get to the next job.

I had a similar experience. I am glad you got your problems fixed, I on the other hand did not. I went over and above trying to work with this Tim character and ended up winning in small claims court to the tune of $5000 but now he will not pay up. Imagine that, he is a dead beat.

Contractor Repaired Damage to home

#6Author of original report

Sat, September 13, 2008

Contractor sent a crew on Friday the 12 of September 2008. They repaired all damage the first crew did. I am very happy now. It just took him 7 months to get it done. Other than taking a while to get it fixed, they did a good job.
