I was working last night, Dec. 28th, 2004, at Walmart. I am a front end cashier and I sometimes also am a sale floor associate in Electronics. We are very short handed right now because of people who have gotten fired recently.

Anyways, there were only 3 lanes open... my lane, lane 11- which is for cigs and 12 items or less, and the service desk. I had a long line of people and was going as fast as I could possibley go. A woman had a cart crammed full of clearenced christmas items and it was all supposed to be tax exempted because it was for her place of business. I was ringing everything up, and she puts 3 rugs and the counter and then, while saying, there are 15 here, she hands me more. So I counted all of them and said I counted 18. She replied, well I must of counted them wrong. I said I will recount them and she said no that's okay, and then huffed. So naturally I didn't because she said it was okay.

Well after I got done putting everything in her cart, and she paid she looked at her reciept and then counted the rugs herself and said, "UHHH... I only had 15 rugs". I said, "I"m sorry maam"... you'll have to go the service desk to get your refund."

She then went to the service desk and pitched a fit about how I was rude and disrespectful and that I could not count. I could have put my fist through her head after I heard what she had said. People need to realize that when they say no it's okay, that if something ends up being wrong, then they should not throw a fit about it. She was a ***** and I hope to go I never have to deal with her again.

That was the first bad experience that I have had with a customer, in the 6 mos that I have worked there. I don't know what it is about the holidays, but it brings the worst out in customers.
