Complaint Review: CUTCO / VECTOR MARKETING

CUTCO / VECTOR MARKETING Cutco I ordered a knife and a handpruner through a grandson. THe first time I used it, the poor design resulted in a nasty wound on my thumb. When I tried to report it, they claimed "no such customer". Ohio

When I reported dissatisfaction with a pruning tool from Vector industries CUTCO division, the reply claimed they had never heard of me or my order.  The reply was a single long paragraph of information that was difficult to read.  I had reported that the design of the tool was insufficient to prevent injury with normal use.  The thumb side of the handle did not keep my thumb from getting caught between it and the ratchet device.  I have a very painful and slow healing wound on my thumb as a result.

I also found the expensive tool did not work as well as a Walmart special and the device to lock/unlock it was difficult to use.

I had hoped to get a refund after returning it, but the 30 days was up (A LIFETIME? guarantee).  I had not used it due to a falling accident which had me laid up for 6 weeks.  I sent a second complaint and didn't even get a reply.

The bread knife I bought to replace one I had bought at a home show many years ago doesn't work much better than the old one.  It is sharp enough, but doesn't fit my knife block.

I would certainly not have bought it except to help a grandson with college expenses.  A scam?  At least partly. I did not need either tool. If I had, I should have gone with a research report from a reliable source.
